"Alice, the guests are arriving, and you need to get ready!"
her mother called sternly from the house.Today was her wedding day—a day her mother had meticulously planned for, but a day Alice had secretly dreaded. her heart heavy with the weight of expectations.
"I don't want to marry,"
Alice whispered to herself.Alice stood by the window, her fingers gripping the sill as she looked out at the garden below. The guests were gathered, dressed in their finest clothes, eagerly waiting for the ceremony to begin.
Her eyes fell on Mr. Matthew, her fiancé, standing near the altar with his bright orange hair catching the sunlight. The sight of him made her stomach turn with a wave of disgust. How could she marry him? How could she give up her freedom for a life she didn't want?
As she struggled with these thoughts, the door behind her creaked open, and the sharp voice of Mr. Matthew's mother cut through her reverie.
"Alice, dear, you must hurry. Everyone is waiting, and the ceremony cannot start without you."
Alice turned to face her future mother-in-law, who was already fussing with the fabric of Alice's dress.
"You look pretty lovely, my dear. Now, quickly, let's get you ready. We don't want to keep the guests waiting."
Feeling trapped, Alice glanced around the room, searching for a way to escape the suffocating situation.
"I'm sorry," she said,
forcing a polite smile : "I need to go to the bathroom first."
Without waiting for a reply, Alice hurried out of the room, her heart pounding with anger and fear. She walked briskly through the house, ignoring the curious glances from passing servants, until she found herself outside. The air was cool and fresh, a stark contrast to the stifling atmosphere inside.
As she wiped away her tears, something caught her attention. A white rabbit with pink eyes was hurrying across the lawn, muttering to itself. The rabbit was wearing a small hat, and it kept glancing at a pocket watch it held in its paw. "I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date!" it exclaimed, its voice filled with panic.
Alice blinked, her sadness momentarily forgotten. A rabbit, dressed in clothes and speaking? She watched, intrigued, as the rabbit darted toward a large hole at the base of the tree. Without thinking, she stood up and followed it, her heart racing with a mixture of curiosity and desperation.
Alice couldn't believe what she was seeing. How could a rabbit talk? And even stranger, how could a rabbit wear clothes and carry a watch? Unable to contain her curiosity, she quickly got to her feet and began chasing the rabbit across the grass.
The rabbit ran at an astonishing speed, occasionally stopping to anxiously check its watch before darting off again. "
Wait! Please, wait!" Alice cried as she tried to catch up, but the rabbit didn't turn around and continued on its way.
Alice followed the rabbit through the winding paths of the garden until she reached a small wall filled with flowers. She saw it leap through a small opening at the base of the wall, so she quickly followed and dashed after it.
The rabbit disappeared into the hole, and Alice hesitated only for a moment before dropping to her knees and peering inside. It was dark and mysterious, yet something about it called to her. Without a second thought, she crawled into the hole, leaving behind the life she no longer wanted.
And so, Alice fell—down, down, down—into the unknown.
