Hey guys, Gracie here! just wanted to say that this book jumps straight into SOKEEFE but for context keefe and sophie are in exilim taking a walk as friends then some things happen we can just say. Love y'all
Unexpected Sparks
The night at Exilium had grown quieter, the stars casting a serene glow over the grounds. Sophie and Keefe had decided to take a stroll along a hidden path lined with softly glowing lanterns. The atmosphere was calm, and their conversation had drifted to lighter, more personal topics. The weight of their responsibilities seemed to fade into the background, leaving just the two of them enjoying each other's company.
Keefe had been particularly charming tonight, his humor more relaxed, his smiles more genuine. Sophie couldn't help but feel a deeper connection forming, and the thought made her heart race in a way she hadn't quite expected.
"So, Foster," Keefe said, his voice taking on a more serious tone as they walked, "what's something you've always wanted to do but haven't had the chance to yet?"
Sophie looked up at him, her eyes reflecting the light of the lanterns. "That's a tough question. I guess... I've always wanted to travel and see more of the world. Explore new places and learn new things."
Keefe nodded thoughtfully. "Sounds like a plan. I'd love to do that too. Maybe someday we could make that happen."
Sophie's heart fluttered at his words. "That would be amazing."
They reached a small clearing where a bench sat surrounded by blooming night flowers. Keefe gestured for Sophie to sit, and she did, feeling a mixture of anticipation and nervousness. Keefe sat beside her, their shoulders brushing.
"Do you ever think about what we'll be doing in the future?" Sophie asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Keefe turned to face her, his eyes serious but soft. "All the time. Especially with you."
The air between them seemed to crackle with unspoken tension. Sophie felt a magnetic pull towards Keefe, and she could see that he felt it too. They were close now, their breaths mingling in the cool night air.
Without thinking, Sophie leaned in slightly. Keefe's gaze dropped to her lips, and he closed the distance, their lips meeting in a gentle, tender kiss. It was a moment of pure, unguarded emotion, a kiss that spoke of trust, affection, and something deeper.
But just as the kiss deepened, the sound of footsteps approached, and Sophie and Keefe pulled apart, their faces flushed. Fitz Vacker stood at the edge of the clearing, his expression a mix of shock and rage.
"Really?" Fitz's voice was harsh, a stark contrast to the peaceful night. "This is what you're doing?"
Sophie's heart sank as she saw Fitz's furious expression. "Fitz, I—"
Fitz cut her off, his voice trembling with anger. "No, don't. I saw everything. You and Keefe—this was supposed to be a joke, right? You're just playing around."
Keefe stood up, facing Fitz with a calm, but firm demeanor. "Fitz, it's not a joke. Sophie and I—"
Fitz's face was red with anger. "How could you do this? After everything, you just... you just act like it doesn't matter?"
Sophie stood up as well, trying to calm the situation. "Fitz, please, it's not what you think. We were just—"
"Just what?" Fitz interrupted, his voice rising. "Just kissing behind my back? Is that it?"
Keefe took a step forward, his expression serious. "Look, Fitz. We didn't mean to hurt you. We're just trying to figure things out."
Fitz's eyes were blazing with a mixture of hurt and rage. "Figure things out? This isn't some game, Keefe. You don't get to just come in and—"
"Fitz, stop," Sophie said, her voice trembling. "This isn't helping. I'm sorry if this hurts, but you need to understand that—"
"No," Fitz said sharply, "I don't need to understand. I need to get away from this." He turned on his heel, walking away quickly, his footsteps echoing with each step.
As Fitz disappeared into the night, Sophie sank back onto the bench, her heart heavy with guilt and sadness. Keefe sat beside her, his hand gently squeezing hers.
"Are you okay?" Keefe asked quietly.
Sophie nodded, though tears glistened in her eyes. "I just... I didn't want this to happen. I never wanted to hurt him."
Keefe looked at her with understanding. "I know. Sometimes things just... happen. But we'll get through this. We'll talk to Fitz and try to make things right."
Sophie sighed, feeling the weight of the night's events pressing down on her. "I hope so. I really do."
They sat in silence for a while, the stars above watching as they tried to process everything. The kiss that had felt so right now seemed overshadowed by the pain of hurting someone they both cared about. But in that quiet moment, Sophie and Keefe found solace in each other's presence, knowing that they would face whatever came next together.
When I was stuck I did get some help from good old ChatGPT so yes this is my work with a little bit of help. I'm bad at writing romantic scenes okay!
Love y'all!
