The Yule Ball pt.1

"You're going to the Yule ball with me,right?"
Y/n hurried through the corridors.
She was already too late to her charm classes anyway,Cedric didn't have to pepper her with questions to which the answer was already clear.So that he would leave her alone,she stopped abruptly,which made Cedric almost run her over.
Now standing opposite each other she looked at him and said very sternly
"Yes Cedric,I will go with you.Now let me get to my classes."
And so she sprinted to her classroom.
"Ms.Black,you're 5 minutes late."
"I'm dearly sorry Professor Flitwick,it won't happen again."
Flitwick thought for a moment before answering
"Well,since it's your first time coming late to class,ever.I won't punish you."
Y/n sighed relieved
"Now go sit.Quick."
He shooed her away and
Y/n did as Flitwick said.
She quickly walked to the third row,received a stern and disappointed look from Hermione,a warm smile from Harry and sat down in her seat to the left of Ron.
"Where have you been?With Cedric again?
I told you,this guy is no good."
he hissed in her ear.
"Ron,I don't want to lose any house points,so I'd be happy if you shut up."
Y/n spoke through gritted teeth,her mouth barely moving.She spoke as quietly as possible so Flitwick wouldn't have an excuse to punish her.
In today's lesson they learned the Banishing charm
"And of course Y/n and Hermione were the only ones who mastered the spell."
Ron was obviously very irritated again that he couldn't do a spell correctly right away.
Y/n linked arms with him and they ran ahead of Harry and Hermione into the great hall
"Patience Ronald,patience."
She patted his hand mockingly.
"It was because you tried to correct me a thousand times.Without your "help",
I would have easily managed it."
Y/n smiled at him innocently
"You were the one that really wanted to sit next to me."
Ron scoffed and sat down in his original spot at the Gryffindor table and Hermione sat down right next to him.
Just as Y/n was about to sit down next to Harry,a cold and slow voice pronouncing every word with hatred interrupted Y/n in her tracks which led to her being stuck in an uncomfortable position with bent elbows pointing horizontally to the two sides of the great hall and with her legs tense so that she wouldn't plop onto her seat
"Ms. Black."
Y/n tilted her head to the side and closed her eyes knowing exactly what was about to come out of Professor Snape's mouth.
"I didn't know that you belong to the house...."
He twisted his face in disgust and pronounced every syllable of the word
"Gryffindor.I reckon that you sit down at your own house table to show it a little honour."
Y/n knew that there was no point in arguing so she obeyed
"I will,professor Snape."
"Thank you."
Unfortunately,she now had to study alone,without her friends,but maybe now she could concentrate on the work and not on the chatter.

"How can you be so bold?!"
Eva-Maria was furious.
"Boys are really stupid,especially Ron.
He's been annoying me all year long."
While Eva and Y/n were livid,talking and raging Hermione was extremely low-spirited,clearly hurt and affected by the incident that just had happened.
They sat together in the library.
It was getting darker and darker outside which just made sure that the library appeared way cosier with its comfortable and giant armchairs.
"Well guys."
Y/n closed her book after a full day of intense studies
"Enough learned.Besides,I still have to change into my robes and for that,I have to go to the Ravenclaw dormitory which is basically a whole hike away."
She gave Hermione a loving side hug
"I'll come after soon.Just have to finish this essay."
Eva shouted after her.
The library was on the other side of the castle so she had to go through the courtyard to the great hall and then go from there to the Ravenclaw tower.
Ok,Y/n may have exaggerated,but since she didn't want to rush along,she left a little earlier so as not to arrive completely sweaty.
It also gave her an opportunity to go over everything she learned today.
A good learning method.
A really good one,if she wasn't interrupted and her intellectual thoughts weren't replaced by the one where Harry asked Cho to go with him to the Yule Ball.The image of Cho coming into the library basically screaming through the whole room that Harry had asked her rang through her head like a never ending school bell.
At first she felt a sense of sadness,then she wondered why,since she had Cedric by her side,and finally she spent full 5 minutes walking to the courtyard upset that Harry James Potter had so much control over her life even though she could consider herself the luckiest girl in school because Cedric Diggory himself had shown so much interest in her.
So in thought she opened the entrance door to the other side of the castle which led to her bumping into a person.Y/n bumped so hard into that person that she thought alone from that she would get a concussion.She didn't get one but she for sure saw some stars for a while.
"Wow,someone's quick."
"Harry,I really don't have time for this."
She surprised herself by how she snapped at him.
"It's just a quick question,Y/n"
So Y/n gave up,sighed and then looked Harry in the eyes.Harry composed himself and made Y/n freeze with his question
"Y/n.Will you go to the Yule Ball with me?"
Y/n's whole world began to spin.Harry chose Y/n.Wasn't that what shesecretly wanted to hear,or rather believe.Her whole face lit up,but then it struck her.
Reality surpassed the Delusion.
Cho said no,that's why he asked her.
She was the second choice
"What's wrong with you?"
Harry was obviously shocked because he was expecting a different answer  and that made Y/n even angrier
"Let me tell you something,Harry Potter.."
she practically spat out his name
"I'm not a plan B,do you understand that?
Cho says no and you think that you can ask me all of a sudden because your best friend Y/n is involved in everything anyway,so if things get tight then you can ask her either way.
Do you think that Cedric hasn't asked me yet?Huh?Do you really think that I'm so uninteresting that no one would ask me and I'll fall desperately into your arms because the "great Harry Potter"
finally asked me to go to the ball with him?"
Y/n screamed throughout the yard
"And if you had just asked me in a friendly way,then even if your brain seems as small as a pea,it would have to occur to you that there is something going on between Cedric and me.And that he had already asked me.AND THAT HE IS INTERESTED IN ME.UNLIKE YOU."
No one in the whole yard dared to say a word as Y/n was heavily panting,but instead of more screaming,tears ran down her face
"But what hurts me the most is that you obviously don't see me as a person,but as a trophy that you can unpack every time gets hard and you need something to keep you busy,but then lock it back in the closet and ignore when everything in your life goes the way you want."
Y/n purposefully bumped into Harry's shoulder,rushing past him and disappearing into the large stairwell to the Ravenclaw tower.
Deadly silence filled the courtyard until someone came up to Harry.
"You deserved that Harry."
Harry looked down with regret.
"I'm sorry,Eva"
But she just laughed falsely and coldly and
hissed
"You shouldn't apologise to me,you idiot!"
And she also,purposefully,bumped into Harry's shoulder,but before she started to follow Y/n she turned around and said
"You're going to have to explain a lot to Hermione."
and with that she also disappeared into the dungeons.

"I will never talk to him again."
Hermione and Y/n laid hand in hand in the soft snow that spread across Hogsmead.
They rested from their shopping trips for ball gowns.Nymohadora sent Y/n some money in the letter she got as Ron got his robes sent from his mother.
