As twilight descended, the grandeur of the graduation ceremony unfolded. The school auditorium was packed with students, parents, and teachers, all brimming with excitement and pride. The stage was adorned with flowers and banners celebrating the achievements of the graduating class.

MJ and Allyson took their seats among the other graduates, the anticipation palpable in the air. The ceremony began with speeches from esteemed guests, each one sharing words of wisdom and encouragement. The crowd cheered and applauded, but MJ noticed Allyson's distracted gaze, her thoughts clearly elsewhere.

When Allyson's name was finally called, the auditorium erupted in applause. MJ watched as Allyson walked across the stage to receive her diploma, her father's stern face visible in the crowd. Despite the formalities, Allyson's smile was genuine, though tinged with a hint of sadness.

As the ceremony drew to a close, and the graduates were finally declared as alumni, the hall erupted in celebration. Caps were tossed into the air, laughter and cheers filling the space. MJ felt a mix of relief and anxiety as she scanned the crowd, hoping to catch a glimpse of Allyson and make sure she was okay.

Amid the celebration, MJ found Allyson standing alone near the edge of the auditorium. She approached her friend, noticing that Allyson's smile seemed forced.

"Congratulations," MJ said warmly, giving Allyson a hug. "You did it."

"Thanks," Allyson replied, her voice barely concealing her weariness. "It's a relief to have it over with."

MJ glanced around, seeing the happy faces of classmates and families. "How are you holding up?"

Allyson sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly. "It's a lot to take in. I should be excited, but I can't shake this feeling of unease. My dad... he's been so distant, and with everything happening, I don't know what to expect."

MJ nodded, understanding the weight of her friend's words. "If you need to talk or just be with someone, I'm here. We'll get through this."

After the graduation ceremony, the atmosphere was thick with tension. As MJ and Allyson were enjoying their quiet moment on the beach, Mr. Mitchell appeared, his face a mask of fury. He stormed up to Allyson, his expression rigid.

"Allyson," he snapped, grabbing her arm. "We're leaving. Now."

Allyson looked at MJ, her eyes wide with a mix of fear and confusion. "Dad, wait! I need to—"

"There's no time for this," Mr. Mitchell cut her off, his voice cold. "We're going home."

Allyson's protests were drowned out by her father's urgency. MJ watched helplessly as they left the beach, her mind racing with worry. The scene had been unsettling, and MJ's concern for Allyson grew with each passing moment.

Later that evening, Allyson managed to escape her father's tight grip. She wandered back to the school museum, a place where she often found solace. As she wandered through the dimly lit hallways, she heard voices coming from the back room. Her heart raced with anticipation and anxiety.

Pushing the door open, she found Ms. Anderson standing there, her face a mixture of anxiety and determination. "Allyson," Ms. Anderson said softly, "I'm so glad you're here."

Allyson's eyes widened. "Who are you? Why are you here?"

Ms. Anderson took a deep breath, her voice trembling. "I'm your mother. I've been trying to reach you for years. Your father kept me away. I know this is sudden, but you deserve to know the truth."
