The Enemy

Five

I sat down on the couch close to Ashton. I didn't know the other two boys and in all honesty I was scared to speak right now. 

They were all watching a show called 'Criminal Minds'. This must be some inspiration for them. I watched them all as they studied the screen, not making a sound. 

I was on the end of the couch. I wanted to get another peek at those duffle bags. I slowly turned around to see if they were still there. Sure enough, they were. "No" Ashton said coldly, putting his hand beneath my chin to make me turn my head around. 

I mentally rolled my eyes and looked down at the ground. They seemed like they could be okay people, if they weren't criminals on the loose. 

"Dinner!" Luke shouted from the kitchen. "Do you want to eat, Harper?" Ashton asked me. "No thank you, I think I need some alone time." I said quietly. He offered a small smile, but I didn't return it.

I quickly went up the staircase to my room. I went to my purse to call the police. I loved Luke, but I couldn't bear the thought of him robbing a bank, plus who knows what else. It wasn't in the normal pocket I kept it in, so I assumed it fell out. 

After a few minutes of digging, I still couldn't find it. I went through all of my bags and boxes, but there was no sign of it. 

I decided to search around for it. One of the boys had to have taken it. I distinctly remembered sticking it in my purse as I got in the car to come to this place, which I am beginning to regret.

I slowly opened my bedroom door, and tiptoed down the hall into Luke's office. I betcha he took it. It had to be. 

He probably took it after Ashton knocked me out. I went over to his desk where I found a folded up piece of paper. Once again, my curiosity got the best of me. I unfolded it to see what it said. This is what it said:

MISSING GANG OF DANGEROUS JUVENILE CRIMINALS
LAST SEEN- ROBBING LOCAL BANK 3/24/15
WANTED FOR ROBBERY, VANDALISM, ESCAPING PRISON
IF SEEN CONTACT POLICE IMMEDIATELY
BE SAFE AND ON THE LOOKOUT
REWARD- $100,500


Attached to the bottom of the flyer were their mugshots from their previous arrest. A chill ran throughout my body. If I turned them in, I could use the money to get my own place! Still, Luke was my best friend. He could be sentenced for years upon years for his crimes, or even for life. 

I wasn't going to make any decisions yet. I just needed to find my phone as of now. I refolded the piece of paper and stuck it in my pocket. 

I continued to search through his drawers. I found a few small guns, handcuffs, bullets, different bottles of unidentifiable liquids, and even a few needles that looked like shots. 

What did he need this stuff for? I continued to dig in the cabinets. I found latex gloves, different tubes with pills and herbs, more liquids and chemicals, nothing interesting. 

Finally at the bottom of the bottom drawer, I found a black file folder with a huge red mark that said TOP SECRET. I opened the folder to see what was inside. I found what looked like files for someone on the opposing force. Was that-? No. Wait, yes. 

Behold, I found a bio on Louis, all about his work and what he was out to do. Then I read something at the bottom of the page. It said: "Objective- kill" Oh my gosh! They were going to kill Louis! I had to warn him! I had to call the police right now!

All of the sudden, I heard footsteps coming up the stairs and strait towards the office. I let out a faint gasp and grabbed the folder. I ran to hide underneath Luke's desk. 

"I have information on the next mission." I heard Michael say. 

"The IACA is on a mission to find our headquarters and shut them down. The team that is trying to hack into our database and break the security system is our objective. The leader of the team is none other than Tomlinson." Calum explained.

 "We have to break into their headquarters and slaughter the team. This is so important that we don't screw this up. If we fail, the IACA will kill us after we give them what they want. The ACI is counting on us to complete the mission before they can hack into our systems." Ashton concluded. "If they hack into our system, the ACI is over and we'll all end up in prison again if they don't kill us on the spot." Luke said to the rest of them.

"And what about the girl?" Michael's deep voice said. "We're going to have to bring her along. If not willingly, then by force." Luke explained. "Did she buy your story about Tomlinson?" Calum asked. "Oh yeah she did" Ashton said with a not as adorable chuckle. It sounded more maniacal. "She thinks that he cheated on her. Really he was just brainwashed to make her think that. He has no memory of her now. I knew that if it seemed like he cheated she would come running into my arms. I told her I was just busy while we were in the slammer. She believed every last bit of it." Luke said evilly. "So I assume the memory wiping injection worked?" Michael said. "Like a charm." Ashton said with a smirk.

"So with that we just need to figure out a way to introduce this to Harper" Luke said walking over to his desk. He came up behind it. "And it looks like we already have..."
