Hey all, long time no see, but I am still writing...this is a squirrel brain moment, a scene from book 2 between Nature and one other entity, whose name I have censored because that's what twitter voted for! :3 enjoy~~~

The door swung open and slowly closed, decorative bells hanging from the metal bar tinkling away against the glass.

"Are you prepared to listen now?" A woman said without looking. There would be only one person who would dare enter her shop when the sign said closed.

The kettle began to whistle in the silence. She set two teacups down from the cupboard, content to wait, knowing the emotional turmoil in the being staring at the back of her graying hair. The anger from their previous encounters would be forever present, but now it was waning at long last, allowing for a lesson of realism to pierce the clouded veil of anger, denial, frustration, desperation...it was all beginning to fade, leaving behind the empty, heart-trembling sensation of despairing defeat...a defeat that could lead to acceptance, or a surging last-ditch effort to fight against the inevitable.

Some people could be taught by being told or shown something while others had to experience the immovable mountain before they would listen to their elders. Then, of those people, there were those who were intelligent enough to know when to stop and pivot, to conserve their energy and choose their battles wisely. This being was not one of those, given by her tenacity of appearing in this shop not once, not twice, but three times. She could show up as many times as she wished, but the woman would never change her ways.

Tea leaves were chosen and deposited into two delicate china cups. Today's flavor was a soothing Earl Grey. The silence only grew as water splashed onto dried leaves, the clear liquid turning to a darker brown. The silence spoke volumes even as the tea tray was organized; the last time the two had...visited, harsh words were thrown around from her visitor. Some may even have called it a temper tantrum. This was something to be expected of the being, who despite being immortal hadn't really grown up all that much into her role.

Once upon a time, the woman had felt bad for her. Now, all that empathy has dried up. Some may say that the woman had infinite patience, but that was not quite true. What she had was perseverance, and the intelligence that when one door was closed and the following window was latched firmly shut, she simply needed to make another path...whether from words or broken bones, a well-placed fire or a newly constructed road, that was for her to decide. The woman always got her way, and that was the difference between the immortal staring at her and the other troublesome deity she had her eye on currently.

The one behind her was brazen and foolish, charging into her shop and demanding things go her way. Meanwhile, the other had not once visited to even ask a simple question, even though she surely questioned it every day.

Why. Why her, why them, why him...why those two pesky individuals in particular? What purpose did they serve in her scheming mechanisms?

That was only for her to know. The truth was, the mechanisms she was now focused on was a pivot from a previous canvas, one ruined beyond repair and stored in the backroom. Oh, she had been angry for quite some time after one errant little thread...one errant little child had decided to snip her own thread, burning the entire piece. That normally shouldn't be possible, but Weavers were those gifted with the sight after all...and some were either powerful enough or lucky enough to make decisions that affected her canvases. It had taken her years to calm herself and pivot to a new path. There were many problems that needed to be addressed, thus she would not be deterred, of course.

If she gave up, then the entire world did. Therefore, she had infinite perseverance, not patience.

So when an opportunity had presented itself, she had taken it and thus a new canvas was created. The yarns were different this time, the threads and colors off from what she had originally envisioned, but that was quite alright. She was liking this one, and she would be damned if that child was going to snip her own thread again. No immortals or mortals would get in her way, not this time. And certainly not the troublesome one behind her.
