Yeosang stared at the ceiling of his bedroom, the events of the evening replaying in his mind like a broken record. The words he had spoken so impulsively now hung over him like a dark cloud. He was usually calm and collected, never one to make rash decisions, but tonight he had let the pressure get to him. And now, he had to deal with the consequences.

His phone buzzed on the nightstand, pulling him out of his thoughts. It was a message from Wooyoung.

"You okay? Want to talk?"

Yeosang stared at the message from Wooyoung for a moment before typing back, "I'm fine." He hit send, knowing that Wooyoung wouldn't let it go that easily.

A few seconds later, Wooyoung's reply popped up, "Why did you do it? Why did you lie?"

Yeosang's chest tightened. He knew he had messed up, but he wasn't ready to admit that—not even to his best friend. He hesitated before typing his response, trying to sound as convincing as possible.

"I didn't lie."

The three words hung in the air as he pressed send. He could almost picture Wooyoung's face, the confusion, and disbelief. Sure enough, a moment later, his phone buzzed again.

"Stop lying, Yeosang." Wooyoung's message was blunt, his concern obvious.

Yeosang sighed, knowing that Wooyoung wouldn't back down. He decided to dig deeper into the lie, hoping it would buy him some time.

"I'm not lying. I am seeing someone. I just didn't tell you because it's new."

Wooyoung didn't respond right away, and Yeosang's heart pounded in the silence. He felt a pang of guilt for lying to his best friend, something he had never done before. But part of him also wished, deep down, that maybe—just maybe—this lie could somehow become the truth. That he could find someone, and that all of this would work out in the end.

He stared at the screen, waiting for Wooyoung's next message, his mind racing with a thousand different thoughts.

The next morning, Yeosang prepared for work in his usual routine, his mind still swirling with the chaos of the previous night. As he stepped out of his apartment, he was greeted by the familiar hum of the elevator arriving on his floor. He pressed the button to call it and waited, his thoughts preoccupied with the looming deadline and the challenge of finding a boyfriend.

When the elevator doors slid open, Yeosang stepped inside, only to find his neighbor from the apartment across the hall already there. They exchanged their usual brief nod.

"Good morning," Yeosang said, his voice a bit more distracted than usual.

"Morning," the neighbor replied with a friendly smile.

Yeosang noted that the man had a relaxed demeanor and an easy smile, which was a small comfort in his otherwise tumultuous day. They had exchanged pleasantries before, but this was the first time Yeosang had the chance to observe him more closely.

As the elevator descended, Yeosang found himself glancing at his neighbor. He was tall with a casual yet stylish appearance, his short hair neatly styled. Yeosang felt a pang of nervousness. He needed to find a boyfriend, and the universe seemed to be throwing him a possible candidate right in front of him.

Breaking the silence, Yeosang took a deep breath. "Hey, I don't think we've properly introduced ourselves. I'm Yeosang."

The neighbor looked surprised but pleased. "I'm San. Nice to meet you."

The elevator dinged and the doors opened to their floor. They both stepped out, and Yeosang felt an unusual sense of urgency. He wanted to say something more, but he wasn't sure what.

"So, San, what do you do?" Yeosang asked, trying to keep the conversation going. It was a small step, but one that felt important in his current situation.

San's face brightened. "I'm a doctor. I work at a hospital nearby."

Yeosang was intrigued. "That sounds like a demanding job. How do you manage it all?"

"It can be busy, but I enjoy it," San said with a nod. "What about you? What do you do?"

As they continued to chat, Yeosang realized that San was easy to talk to. The conversation flowed more naturally than he had anticipated. San was personable and engaging, and Yeosang found himself unexpectedly enjoying the interaction.

When they reached the lobby, Yeosang hesitated for a moment before speaking up. "Listen, if you're free sometime this week, maybe we could grab a coffee or something? I know this might sound weird but I'm new in this area & I barely know anyone or any good places here"

San looked pleasantly surprised. "Sure, that sounds great. Maybe we can meet after work today?"

Yeosang was quick to agree. "That works for me. Let's exchange numbers."

They quickly swapped contact information, and with a few more friendly words, they agreed to meet for dinner that evening. As San walked away, Yeosang felt a flicker of hope and relief. It was a small step, but a significant one. And for the first time since the party, Yeosang felt like he might just be able to make this lie a reality.
