I entered though the intricately carved doors embellished with crystals and gold that were formed into celestial motifs and radiant symbols. The entry hall unfolded into a breathtaking expanse, its high vaulted ceilings supported by sturdy wooden beams were adorned with delicate golden inlays that caught the sun light through the thick glass skylights. Despite the grandeur, the interior was enveloped in a subdued, almost twilight ambiance, softened even further by the overcast day outside.

Along the walls, large tapestries depicting scenes of the divine hung in rich hues of gold and deep amber, though their brilliance was muted by the weather. The scent of incense lingered in the air, mingling with the faint chill of the snow-laden breeze that slipped through the temple's entrance.

At the far end of the hall, a grand altar stood bathed in the faint light, its surface adorned with offerings of sun-gilded artifacts and symbols of healing. The altar was framed by elegant, sweeping columns that rose like the arms of the temple, reaching skyward in silent supplication to Pelor, the god of the Sun and healing.

"The delight is mine, Father, it is always a pleasure to be in your presence." I bowed respectfully in the presence of the High Priest of Amaris, Father Caelestis.

"Let us set aside the formalities, my child. I see that your heart is burdened with worry. Speak to me of what troubles you." His voice, though authoritative, carried a soft and reassuring undertone. A shaky breath escaped my parted lips.

"I've trained extensively and tried to follow your teachings closely. Yet, the gravity of this quest weighs heavily on me. I've been focusing closely on the aspects of protection and healing, and I've practiced the rituals and prayers diligently. But this mission is unlike any other I've faced. I need to be sure I'm ready." My fingers twiddled at the laces of my corset nervously.

The high Priest nodded reassuringly placing his firm hand upon my shoulder. "The fact that you are aware of the dangers and still stand ready speaks volumes about your courage and commitment. Trust in the guidance you have received and in the strength you have cultivated. Maintain your focus and clarity. The path you walk is fraught with uncertainty, but your purpose will guide you. Remember to stay centered in your faith, and let your actions be a reflection of the divine light."

"I'll carry your words with me. I want to ensure that my actions align with our values and serve the greater good. I'll do my utmost to honor the trust placed in me and fulfill my purpose with integrity." My eyes met his with a light of empowerment. His full reassurance in me gave me the strength I desperately needed. The weight of leaving everyone I've ever known or loved had been drowning me in despair.

"That is all I expect of you, my child. Your responsibility as a cleric of Pelor is to channel your holy gifts to bring relief, comfort, and guidance to those in need. The light of Pelor shines upon you, guiding your path and fortifying your spirit. Through prayer and dedication, seek the divine counsel that will aid you in fulfilling your sacred duties."

"Yes, Father. Thank you for your patience with me. I have been working on preparations for my departure. I will leave the night prior to the Autumn festival. Everyone will be busy and distracted so it should be a seamless exit. Have you heard from the others that will be joining me on my travels?"

"Indeed. Three shall join you on your journey: Tristan, a young half-elf; Asael, a man of overwhelming strength; and Seraphina, a talented sorceress. By the week's end, they will arrive at this temple, and in two weeks' time, the four of you shall embark together, under the watchful gaze of Pelor. Now, go forth with confidence. It is time for you to ready yourself and embrace the path before you. We shall keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Farewell, and may Pelor's light illuminate your way."
