Eclipse
Like every evening, I'm sitting on the wall in front of our school, smoking a joint. Without drugs, my life is almost unbearable. I tilt my head back and look at the stars. It's damn cold and it's probably 10 degrees, but I don't care, it's the coldest night this Summer. I notice that someone sits down next to me and I look to the side. It's a guy. He's got a hoodie on and is looking up at the sky.
We are both silent for a while. "Drugs are damn bad, you know that?" he said. I was just about to answer annoyed when I saw a joint in his hand. "He nods and holds out his hand to me. "Max," he said and I took his hand and answered with a short "Eclipse, nice to meet you." We started talking and laughed a lot. "Why are you out at this time of day?"
My mother and I had an argument," I say and he laughs, "I know that all too well."
Do you go to school here?" I nod, take another drag and look at him. "And you? I've never seen you here before." He laughs and takes his last drag. "I'm new here and I'm going to school here after the holidays." "Ah, I see. If you're quick, you can jump over to the bike rack during lunch break and smoke weed in the woods behind the school. Oh, and never get drugs from people at school."
"Um, thank you," he says and I laugh slightly. "Well, I think we'll see each other," I say and take my last drag. I smile at him briefly and then go home. "Im b-," I start but all I hear is my parents shouting at each other. "You bitch!! How could you?" my father shouts. I come into the living room to them and look at them. "What happened?" I ask and my Stepmother looks at me.
"Shut up you Mistake!" she screams and I just look at her. "Eclipse, pack your things. We're leaving," says my dad and I look at him. "You stay here!" screams my mother. "No, you've cheated on me several times. I'm taking our daughter with me." I go to my room and pack everything I need. "Have you noticed that she's always high?! Or drunk!?" screams my father.
I finish packing his things and put everything in the hallway. "Dad, we can." He comes to me and gives me the car keys and tells me to put everything insidethe car. I do it and wait for him downstairs. He comes down and drives me to an apartment and doesn't say a word to me on the way. When we arrive, I go upstairs straight away and wait for him. I've known for a while that he wants to move out and that this apartment exists. I already have a room here.
I take my things and run to my room. "Eclipse," says my father in the living room and Stops me. "The drugs," he starts. "Dad. Save it, I won't stop."
