Andrew's heart was still racing as he pulled away from Lexi, his lips tingling from their kiss. They sat in his car, the Taco Bell parking lot around them quiet and deserted. Lexi's cheeks were flushed, her green eyes bright with emotion. He reached out, gently brushing a strand of hair away from her face, his fingers lingering on her soft skin.
"I should probably get you home," he said softly, reluctant to break the moment but knowing they couldn't stay out here all night.
Lexi nodded, biting her lower lip—a habit that Andrew found both adorable and incredibly distracting. "Yeah, you're probably right," she agreed, though her voice held a hint of reluctance.
Andrew started the car and pulled out of the parking lot, his mind still reeling from what had just happened. He'd kissed Lexi Rivera. And not just a casual kiss—this had felt different. Real. He stole a glance at her as he drove, her profile illuminated by the dim lights of the streetlamps. She was stunning, even in her hoodie and sweatpants, her hair tousled and slightly curled. Her nose was cute, her eyes an entrancing shade of green, and he couldn't believe how lucky he was to be sitting next to her.
They drove in silence for a few minutes, the comfortable quiet filled with the hum of the car engine. Finally, Andrew spoke up, his voice breaking the stillness. "So, what does this mean?" he asked, his tone cautious. "Us, I mean."
Lexi turned to look at him, her expression serious. "I don't know," she admitted. "But I know I want to find out. I just... I don't want to rush into anything and mess things up."
Andrew nodded, understanding her hesitation. "I get it," he said. "I want to figure this out too. But maybe... maybe we should keep this between us for now? At least until we know what we're doing."
Lexi seemed to consider his words, then nodded slowly. "Yeah, I think that's a good idea," she agreed. "We don't need the whole world watching us figure this out. And we definitely don't need Brent or Ben freaking out."
Andrew laughed, though there was a hint of tension in his voice. "Right. Brent would probably try to kill me if he knew I was here with you right now."
Lexi smiled, but her eyes held a hint of worry. "And Ben... well, he might not have a right to care anymore, but he still might cause drama. I don't want to hurt anyone, Andrew."
Andrew's hand tightened on the steering wheel. He didn't like the idea of Ben having any say over Lexi's life, but he knew she was right. They had to be careful. "Okay," he said, his voice firm. "We'll keep it quiet. Just for now. Until we're sure."
Lexi nodded, relief visible on her face. "Thank you," she whispered. "For understanding."
Andrew pulled up outside Lexi's house, cutting the engine. They sat there for a moment, the silence stretching between them, filled with unspoken words. Then, Andrew turned to Lexi, a playful grin spreading across his face. "You know," he said, his voice dropping to a low, teasing tone, "if we're going to keep this a secret, we should probably make the most of the time we do have alone."
Lexi's eyes widened slightly, a blush creeping up her cheeks. "Oh, really?" she said, her voice playful. "And how exactly do you suggest we do that?"
Andrew leaned closer, his breath warm against her ear. "I have a few ideas," he murmured, his lips brushing her skin. One thing led to another, and before he knew it, they were stumbling through the front door of her house, barely able to keep their hands off each other. They made their way up to her bedroom, Andrew's sweatshirt coming off and landing on the floor, followed by their shoes.
Lexi giggled as they fell onto her bed, her hands tangling in Andrew's hair as he kissed her deeply. Andrew's mind was spinning, every part of him focused on Lexi—her taste, her touch, the feel of her against him. He didn't want to stop, didn't want this moment to end.
But then, a sound broke through the haze of his thoughts. A knock on Lexi's bedroom door, followed by a familiar voice that made Andrew's blood run cold.
"Lex? You in there? It's 4 a.m., and I heard noises," Brent called from the other side of the door.
Andrew's eyes widened in panic, and he rolled off Lexi, landing on the floor with a thud. He quickly scrambled to hide under the bed, his heart pounding so loudly he was sure Brent could hear it through the door.
Lexi sat up, pulling her hoodie down to cover her bare skin. "Uh, yeah, Brent! I'm here!" she called, trying to sound casual. Her eyes were wide with panic as she glanced around the room, noticing Andrew's sweatshirt lying on the floor. She couldn't reach it in time!
Brent's head poked in, his eyes narrowing suspiciously. "What are you doing up?" he asked, his gaze sweeping the room. "And why is there a guy's sweatshirt on your floor?"
Lexi froze, her mind racing for a plausible excuse. "Oh, that? Um, Andrew left it at TikTok Monday. I must have grabbed it by accident," she lied, forcing a laugh that sounded a bit too high-pitched to her own ears.
Brent frowned, not looking entirely convinced. He stepped further into the room, glancing around as if expecting to find someone hiding. "Right," he said slowly. "Well, keep it down, okay? I don't want Mom and Dad waking up."
"Got it, Brent. Sorry," Lexi said, her voice more stable now.
Brent nodded, still looking suspicious. He cast one more glance around the room before backing out, closing the door behind him. Lexi waited a few seconds, listening for his footsteps to fade away down the hall, before letting out a sigh of relief.
Andrew crawled out from under the bed, his face a mix of amusement and exasperation. "That was close," he whispered, shaking his head.
Lexi laughed softly, her eyes sparkling with relief and excitement. "Tell me about it," she agreed. She leaned down, pressing a quick kiss to Andrew's lips. "You better get out of here before he comes back."
Andrew nodded, grabbing his sweatshirt from under the pillow and pulling it on. He moved to the window, sliding it open quietly. "I'll see you later?" he asked, glancing back at Lexi.
Lexi nodded, a soft smile on her lips. "Definitely," she said. "And Andrew?"
"Yeah?"
Lexi's smile widened. "I'm really glad we're doing this."
Andrew felt his heart skip a beat, warmth spreading through his chest. "Me too, Lex," he said softly. He leaned in, giving her one last quick kiss, before climbing out the window and disappearing into the night.
As he made his way down the street, his heart still racing, Andrew couldn't stop the grin that spread across his face. This was risky, maybe even dangerous. But as he thought about Lexi's smile, her laugh, the way she looked at him—Andrew knew it was worth every bit of trouble they might face.
As he ran down the street toward his car he bit back the urge to tilt his head back and shout into the night;
"I kissed Lexi Rivera, and Lexi Rivera kissed me back!!"
