The living room of the Amp House was alive with energy, the usual chaos of a sleepover in full swing. Dom had set up a massive fort in the middle of the room, using every pillow and blanket he could find, while Brent was busy rifling through the kitchen cabinets for snacks. Pierson and Liv were debating the merits of two different horror movies, their voices blending with the general din.
Andrew sat on one end of the couch, his eyes following Lexi as she moved around the room, chatting and laughing with their friends. She looked effortlessly gorgeous in her oversized hoodie and pajama shorts, her hair pulled up in a messy bun. Every so often, she'd glance over at him, her green eyes twinkling with a secret only they shared.
Andrew couldn't help but smile to himself. Since they'd agreed to date in secret, every stolen moment and shared glance felt electrifying. He loved the way Lexi would brush against him as she passed, her fingers grazing his shoulder or her hand lingering on his arm just a second longer than necessary. It was subtle, but it was enough to drive him crazy.
Brent emerged from the kitchen with a bowl of chips, throwing himself onto the couch beside Andrew. "Man, you've been staring at Lexi all night," he said, his tone half-teasing. "You got a crush or something?"
Andrew played it cool, leaning back and throwing an arm over the back of the couch. "Just making sure my best friend's sister doesn't get into any trouble," he said with a smirk. "You know how it is."
Brent snorted. "Yeah, right. I've seen the way you look at her." He tossed a chip into his mouth, oblivious to the truth behind his words. "Better watch out, or Ben's gonna start thinking you've got your eye on his ex."
Andrew's smile faltered for a split second at the mention of Ben. He still wasn't sure how Ben would react if he found out about him and Lexi, and that uncertainty hung over him like a dark cloud. He glanced across the room at Lexi, who was now chatting animatedly with Jeremy. His jaw clenched involuntarily when Jeremy leaned in closer to say something that made her laugh.
"Dude, you okay?" Brent asked, looking at Andrew curiously. "You've got that look like you're gonna punch someone."
Andrew forced himself to relax, shrugging nonchalantly. "Just tired," he lied. "Long day, you know?"
Brent didn't seem convinced, but he let it go, turning his attention to Pierson, who was now arguing passionately with Liv about why The Conjuring was the superior horror movie. Andrew used the distraction to glance back at Lexi, who caught his eye and smiled, a knowing, teasing smile that sent a jolt through his chest.
She excused herself from Jeremy and made her way over to the couch, squeezing in between Andrew and Brent. "Hey," she said, nudging Andrew with her shoulder. "What are you two talking about?"
Andrew's hand brushed against her thigh, a casual touch that sent heat flooding through him. "Just discussing how Brent is terrified of horror movies," he said, grinning when Brent made a face.
"I am not!" Brent protested, glaring at Andrew. "I just...prefer action movies, that's all."
Lexi laughed, her eyes flicking to Andrew's for a brief second, a silent conversation passing between them. She leaned back, her leg pressing against Andrew's, her hand resting lightly on his knee. The small touches were enough to send his heart racing, and he fought to keep his expression neutral.
As the night wore on, the group settled into a rhythm, the air filled with laughter and friendly banter. They decided on a horror movie marathon, the living room lights dimmed as the first movie started. Andrew found himself sitting next to Lexi, their shoulders touching, her hand occasionally brushing against his arm as she adjusted her position.
