First Person POV
Five opened my door. "Fivey, what brings you here?" I asked with a smirk. Five instantly scowled at my nickname. "How often will I tell you to stop calling me that?" He said, sounding a bit irritated but softer than his usual tone. I shrugged. "Doesn't matter now; why are you here?" I asked, tilting my head slightly, "Dad called us down for breakfast," he replied as he shoved his hands in his pockets.
I looked at him with a frown. "That's not it. There's something else on your mind," I stated, seeing his tense shoulders. "You could always see through me, can't you, Number Eight?" Five grunted out as he walked over before sitting down beside me. Five took his hand out of his pocket before holding my hands and interlocking them. There was a comfortable silence before "I want to time travel," Five announced, interrupting the silence. I perked up, "Five, are you sure? I know you want to prove yourself to Dad, but he said you aren't ready yet," I reminded him.
Dad always said Five wasn't ready, and I agreed with him, knowing there might be consequences, but I didn't want to cause an argument between us.
Five scoffed, "I know what the old man said, Y/N, and I know I'm ready; he's just blocking me from my full potential." He said a bit annoyed, but he looked at me, "I promise I'll just time travel into the future and come right back, okay?" Five reassured me as he cupped my cheek in his warm hand. I leaned into his palm. "Promise?" I whispered, looking into those green orbs I loved. "I promise," Five replied, placing his forehead against mine as we stared into each other's eyes.
Suddenly, Five coughed and looked away, his ears dusted with pink as he stood up. "Well, I guess we should go," he grumbled as he walked away before stopping. He turned to me before swearing under his breath and spatially jumping to me before holding my face in his hands before kissing his forehead. I stared at him, dumbfounded, before he teleported away.
I felt my cheeks flush as I placed my face in my hands. "What are you doing to me?" I mumbled quietly before "I thought you said you weren't that close to him," Diego said as he was leaning against the doorway with a knowing smirk. "Oh, shut up!" I said, throwing a pillow at him that he easily caught. "Twenty dollars, and I'll keep it a secret," Diego said, holding his hand out with a smirk. I rolled my eyes. "I'll get your damn money later," I stated, looking over at my empty piggy bank. Diego smirked and nodded, agreeing to my words, before he went out to go down to the dining hall.
Mom soon rang the bell as all of us piled into the dining room. I walked in behind Diego, whom I shot daggers at before I took a deep breath, and stood between Five and Klaus, who shot me a look at Diego, who whispered in his ear. Our father walked in looking at us before "sit," he told us. All of us sat down, and we began eating before I shot Five a look as he was picking at his food. I looked at Vanya, who also noticed both of us knowing this wasn't going to end well. Five slammed his knife into the table. "Number Five?" Dad said, looking at Five. "I have a question," Five asked as he interlocked his fingers together with his elbows on the table. "Knowledge is an admirable goal, but you know the rules; no talking during mealtime," Dad told him. "I want to time travel," Five blunted out, ignoring what Dad told him. "No," Dad said in a firm and cold tone. "But I'm ready. I've been practicing my jumps just like you said," Five said before he teleported beside him. "See?" Five exclaimed. "A spiral jump is trivial when compared to the unknown of time travel. One is like sliding along the ice; the other is a skin ascending blindly into the depths of freezing water and reappearing as an acorn," Dad stated.
Five was silent as he processed the words. "Well, I don't get it," he mumbled out. "Hence the reason you're not ready," Dad stated firmly. Five turned to Vanya, seeing her shake her head; he turned to me as I shook my head too, not wanting him to get into more trouble. "I'm not afraid," Five said after a few more seconds. "Fear isn't the issue. The effects it might have on your body and even your mind are far too unpredictable. Now I forbid you to talk about this any longer!" Dad demanded, sounding a bit irritated as he dropped his cutlery, looking at Five. Five huffed, clenching his fists before he turned and darted out of the room. "Number Five! You haven't been excused!" Dad shouted after him, my eyes widening before I quickly wiped my mouth. "Excuse me for a second," I said quickly, standing up before rushing after him. "Number Eight!" Dad shouted after me, but I ignored him.
I saw Five opening the gates before I quickly ran before taking his wrist. "You idiot, what are you trying to do?" I exclaimed, making him face me. I was about to open my mouth again before Five leaned over and kissed my cheek, interrupting me. "I know what I'm doing, Y/N. I'll time travel as fast as I can, then I'll be back with you, okay? Like nothing happened. You won't even notice I'm gone," Five reassured me as he interlocked our hands. I sighed, knowing I couldn't disagree with him. "As fast as possible?" I repeated looking at him. Five nodded with a reassuring smile. "As fast as possible," he repeated, cupping her face in his palms like when they were kids. I took a deep breath. "Fine.. but tell me what it's like when you come back," I said, relaxing slightly in his touch. Five nodded before he gave me one last kiss on my forehead. "I'll even get you something," he teased out, which I chuckled to. Five hands went back to his side as he stepped back as I watched him. "See you later," I said quietly with a small smile. Five nodded with a smile of his own. "See you later, darling." Five replied before he faced his back to me before disappearing with a flash of blue.
And that's how I lost him.
