Vera Mikaelson was cursed, not because she was forced to become a vampire, but because it seems all the people in her life and some who come in her life tend to get obsessed with her, either plationically or romantically.
But no one seems as obsessed with her than her family, they are the less functioning family but they can all agree on one thing, protecting Vera and making sure she stays in their eye sight.
They love her and she loves them of course, but it's suffocating staying at their side like a little lamb and she might as well as been one, she was naive and innocent cause she has never seen the outside world probably and always been shielded by them.
She wants to see the world, explore. So she came up with a plan, she got a trusted witch to make sure she couldn't be tracked and she fleeted when all her family was busy.
She got what she wanted, yes it was a bit hard navigating the world without her siblings but it got better cause everyone was so willing to help her. After years of exploring and travelling, she settled down in mystic falls at the Salvatore boarding house.
The Salvatore family welcomed her with open arms, she was charmed by the two brothers who were besotted by her, they were obsessively in love with her. And poor innocent Vera was fooled by their charming behaviour and didn't see the red flags.
As much as Vera would like to fall into their arms, she knew it was improper so she stayed friends with them. Well she saw them as friends, the boys however saw her as theirs. After a while Kathrine pierce came and when she saw Vera mikaelson, the missing Mikaelson's that Klaus and everyone is desperately trying to fine.
She was going to use Vera to get her freedom back, but as she got close to Vera and Vera confided in her. She knew she couldn't return her to her family, she couldn't do that to Vera.
When she found out the founders are rounding up all the vampires, she wanted to protect Vera from everything and everyone so she got Emily Bennett too make Vera fall asleep for a long time until the spell gets reversed and placed Vera in a beautiful coffin and hid her in the tomb.
The Salvatore brothers tried to get to her but they got shot instead, losing Vera broke them and made the brothers hate each other.
But the tomb gets opened again and Vera gets released however a certain doppelgänger has the mikaelson's after her and accidentally exposed Vera to them.
