* ⋅˚₊‧ That was stupid ‧₊˚ ⋅Amelie sat at her desk, her fingers tapping against the keyboard as she reviewed her notes from the last Devils game. The past week had been a whirlwind, and with the NHL Awards just around the corner, the pressure was mounting. The whole day possible outfit ideas ran through her mind, taking her attention away from her work. She diced to text Nico.
Can we me please meet up tonight I'm stressing about outfits
Nico !!
Sure. My place at 8?Okay!! I'll hall all my clothes to yours
As soon as she hit send, a notification from a tag on instagram. She couldn't help but roll her eyes. It was one thing to keep up the charade for the sake of the team, but another to see her name splashed across gossip columns.
She clicked on the notification, skimming through the post. They'd caught on to their Jersey Shore outing, the interview, and their recent social media interactions. The article speculated about their relationship, feeding off every little detail to keep the rumors turning.
With a sigh, Amelie shut her laptop and leaned back in her chair. She'd known what she was signing up for, she's said that a million times bye now but she hadn't expected it to feel so invasive. Even if it was all fake, seeing herself and Nico in the spotlight like this was jarring but also brought a smile to her face. Her phone buzzed again—another message, this time from Jennifer.
Jennifer
Call me when you get a chance. We need to discuss your coverage for the awards.Okay I can call you now
Amelie shook her head, her mind already racing with what the conversation would entail. There was no doubt Jennifer would want to make sure she and Nico played their roles to perfection at the awards. She quickly dialed Jennifer's number, mentally preparing herself for the conversation.
