(Joy's POV)
As I lay in bed, my heart felt light, and I couldn't stop smiling after my conversation with Sungjae. But just as I was drifting off to sleep, my phone buzzed again. I reached over, expecting another sweet message from Sungjae, but the notification on the screen made my heart sink.
Manager Unnie:
[11:25 PM] Sooyoung, we need to talk. It's urgent. Call me as soon as you see this.A cold shiver ran down my spine. Manager Unnie never texted this late unless something serious was happening. I quickly dialed her number, my heart pounding in my chest.
She picked up on the first ring. "Sooyoung, we need to discuss something important. The higher-ups found out about your relationship with Sungjae... again."
My breath caught in my throat. Not again. "What do you mean? We've been so careful."
"They have their ways of finding out, Sooyoung. And this time, they're adamant that you two end things for good. Especially with your upcoming drama with Woo Dohwan. You're about to take your acting career to the next level, and they don't want anything to jeopardize that."
The words hit me like a punch to the gut. My upcoming drama was a big deal, but the idea of breaking up with Sungjae—again—was unbearable. "Unnie, I can't... We've been through this before. Why can't they just let us be?"
"I know, Sooyoung, I know. But you have to understand the stakes here. The agency believes that your relationship could distract you from your work, and with all the rumors circulating, they don't want to risk anything. They're doing this for your own good."
"For my own good?" I echoed, my voice trembling with frustration. "How can they think breaking my heart is for my own good?"
"Sooyoung, I'm just the messenger. But you have to decide—your career or your relationship with Sungjae. This is the second time, and they won't give you another chance."
Tears welled up in my eyes as the weight of her words sank in. I knew how much this drama meant for my career, and I'd worked so hard to get this role. But Sungjae... he was everything to me.
"Unnie, please... there has to be another way. Can't we just keep it quiet? We've done it before."
"They don't want to take that risk, Sooyoung. I'm sorry, but you have to choose."
The line went silent as I struggled to find my voice. How was I supposed to make a choice like this?
"Okay," I whispered finally, my voice breaking. "I'll... I'll talk to Sungjae."
"I'm so sorry, Sooyoung. I know this isn't easy. But you have to think about your future."
"I know," I replied numbly. "Thanks, Unnie. I'll talk to him."
We hung up, and I stared at the phone in my hand, tears blurring my vision. How was I going to tell Sungjae? We'd been through this once before, and it nearly tore us apart. And now, just when we'd found happiness again, they were making me do it all over.
My fingers hovered over the screen as I pulled up Sungjae's contact. I didn't want to do this over the phone, but I couldn't bear to see his face when I broke the news. My heart ached as I typed out a message, each word feeling like a dagger to my chest.

It took a few minutes before his reply came through.
