Gaz was treading through the snow, his boots heavty and crunching as he walked. He felt himself growing more sluggish before Soap, his best friend in the SAS, patted his shoulder.
"Dinnae slow down now, lad." His scottish accent was heavy, making Gaz's head spin a bit as he nodded, his trembling and cold hands clutching onto his gun as he continued.
Evac was supposed to come and get them, but because of certain, unfortunate circumstances, they were stuck walking half of the way in this fucking snow. Betta be fuckin' worth it.
Gaz wasn't accustomed to the cold, or the snow, he didn't really like it. He would prefer to be in warmer environments, maybe sat on a chair, tanning in the blistening sun.
"Oi, how much longer 'til we're there?" Gaz shuddered out as he walked beside Soap, feeling his thighs shaken up more and more as they continued on.
Soap took a moment to respond, huffing out as he looked down and around. He sighed before he hoisted his gun that was strapped around his shoulder, onto his back, rubbing his gloved hands together.
"Ah'd say about 9 more minutes? Ye holdin' up arrite, Garrick?" Soap mustered, fog escaping his mouth as he breathed out into the cold air.
"Aye, can just feel myself gettin' more bloody tired.. cannot believe they'd make us walk in this shite." Gaz huffed, doing the same thing to his gun as Soap had done and rubbing his arms with his hands; fuck he was freezing.
He seen Soap nod out the side of his view, silence falling between them again as they kept walking. 9 bloody minutes. How are they even surviving right now? Surely, it's too cold to be functioning in this bullshit.
"A lil game of I Spy?" Soap nudged him softly, making Gaz snap out of his little haze, grunting. He thought about it as he looked around, catching a few different colors in his eyes; most of it just white.. the snow, the sky, the trees covered in snow, bushes. It was all white.
But Gaz nodded, looking over at Soap and expecting him to go first.
"I Spy with my little eye.. something grey." Grey?
"Where tha fuck are you seein' grey?" Gaz scoffed softly as he shook his head, looking around to try and find the color. He heard Soap snickering, his eyes grazing down every tree, every bush, every cloud before his eyes landed a bit further, spotting grey clouds forming. "Those clouds."
"Proper cheater, aye?"
Gaz just laughed and shook his head, looking down at their feet as they treaded through the snow. Gaz went to go speak before he heard a honk in the distance; his head snapped up to see Price in a truck with Ghost in the passenger seat.
"Jackpot." Soap mustered before he started sprinting forwarrd for it, catching Garrick off gaurd before he followed suite, yelling at him to wait up. Soap just laughed and shook his head, practically jumping into the back seat of the truck before Gaz followed him in and quickly shut the door, shuddering.
"Bloody fuckin' jesus, took ya's long enough, eh? Nearly froze to death out there.." Gaz grunted as he shuffled in his seat beside Soap, his thighs still trembling softly.
Price just smiled softly, kicking the truck into drive and then they were off, heat blasting through the car. Gaz couldn't feel his hands or his feet, rubbing his gloves over his layered thighs as he rested his head against the window, watching the scenery as they drove through snow.
Soap was also staring out the window, rubbing his arms and his legs to try and warm up faster. Price turned up the music a bit as he continued to drive, drowning out everyones thoughts..
When they got back on base, Gaz never felt more grateful. His hands were still trembling from the cold he was stuck in hours prior. He tugged his gear off, sticking it up on a hanger in the training room bsfore he ran a hand down his face, rubbing his arms and treading his way to the couch in the common room.
Soap was sat there, leaned against the back of the couch, his head leaned back and his eyes closed. A blanket was draped over his thighs, keeping his legs some what warm. Gaz huffed softly, his arms wrapped around his body as he made uis way over to the couch and flopping down beside him, seeking warmth from the man.
Soap seemed to notice this— even without opening his eyes— and wrapped an arm around Gaz's shoulders, tugging him closer and rubbing his arm softly.
"Still cold? Heater bloody sucks in here." Soap mumbled into Gaz's locks of hair, making the man pressed up against his chest now, huff a small laugh as he nodded.
They ended up laying down, their legs tangling in with one other and the blanket that was once draped over Soaps leg, now draped over Gaz's back as he rested on top of the other male's chest.
They sat in a comfortable silence, Soaps hand resting on his lower back and the other under his own head. They eventually fell asleep like that, breathing slow and mixed in with one another as he curled into each other for comfort and warmth.
Ghost found them like that, snapping a few quick photos and snorting to himself before he waddled off to show Price. They were never going to live this down.
