As the train continued its journey through the sprawling landscapes of Foodtopia, Frank and Brenda found themselves side by side, their paths unexpectedly crossing again after all these years. After handing Tortilla Raice over to the train's security officers, the tension between them began to ease, replaced by an awkward yet familiar sense of connection.
They walked back toward the passenger compartments, neither quite sure what to say after everything that had just happened. The years had changed them both in so many ways, and yet, there was still something unmistakable between them—something unresolved.
"Frank," Brenda finally broke the silence, glancing at him as they walked. "I didn't expect to see you here, let alone saving the day like that. You've...changed."
Frank chuckled softly, rubbing the back of his neck. "Yeah, well, life has a funny way of taking you places you never imagined. I've been through a lot since we last saw each other."
They reached the compartment where Teresa was waiting, her eyes narrowed slightly as she observed the interaction between Frank and Brenda. Her annoyance was palpable, though she tried to mask it with a tight-lipped smile.
Brenda, sensing Teresa's unease, quickly introduced the two. "Frank, this is my wife, Teresa del Taco. Teresa, this is Frank."
Teresa's smile didn't reach her eyes as she extended a hand to Frank. "Nice to meet you, Frank," she said, her tone cool and distant. "I've heard...a lot about you."
Frank shook her hand, nodding politely. "Likewise, Teresa. Brenda's told me about your work—very impressive stuff."
Teresa pulled her hand back, her gaze flickering to Brenda. "Yes, well, we've both been busy. Building a future, moving on from the past."
Brenda could feel the tension in the air, and she quickly tried to steer the conversation to safer ground. "Frank, what brings you to Foodtopia? I thought you'd left the city after everything that happened."
Frank hesitated for a moment, then shrugged. "I've been moving around a lot, trying to find my place in this new world. And, well... I'm not alone anymore. I'm with someone."
Brenda's curiosity was piqued, but before she could ask who, Teresa's expression darkened. "Someone? Like who?" she asked, her voice laced with suspicion.
Frank glanced between Brenda and Teresa, sensing the growing tension. He took a deep breath, deciding to just be honest. "I'm with Jack. We've been together for a while now, remember when you caught us doing it? I have a crush since then."
Brenda blinked in surprise, her thoughts racing as she tried to process the revelation. "Jack? The last human alive?" she asked, unable to hide her disbelief. "You're in a relationship with him?"
Frank nodded, his expression serious. "Yeah. It's complicated, but we've found something that works for us. After everything we went through, we...connected and the sex is great, is tongue does magic to my ass and vice versa, but he prefers me as a dildo."
Teresa's annoyance turned into open hostility as she folded her arms across her chest. "You're telling me that you're shacked up with the same motherfucker who almost wiped us all out? Who's been hunting down food for years?"
Frank's face hardened at Teresa's outburst, but he didn't back down. "It's not that simple, Teresa. Jack's changed, he is a cannibal. We've been through hell, and somehow, we ended up finding a way to survive together."
Teresa wasn't buying it. "So what, I'm supposed to just accept that? That you're playing house with the last human while the rest of us are trying to rebuild everything he destroyed?"
