One Month Later, Evening (6:48 pm)

Parking the car in our space in the basement parking area, I walked towards the elevator. It was a hectic day at office today, with a special training session with interns. Hence, I decided to wrap up early for the day and return home. Just beside me waiting for the elevator, were the other residents of our building. Some were familiar, while some weren't.

I passed a small greeting to the known ones, and waited for the elevator to arrive. Sometimes, it did get crowded in here, with the people residing in the other 29 floors. I wasn't used to this, but a month had already passed to my marriage with Kabir, and I was slowly adjusting to the housing system. It felt like a nice change sometimes, seeing kids playing in the garden areas, or swimming in the pool; oldies taking a walk and exercising. Also, spending time with Maa and Papa, trying cooking with Maa and discussing news with Papa. Kabir too was a great part in the past days, us having dinner together every day and then settling for a chat with coffee in the balcony – which obviously was his idea to begin with.

Once I reached our floor, I walked out and was instantly greeted with the new name plate hanging proudly beside the door; now with my name written there as well.

Vanraj – Richa
Kabir – Arina

It was a surprise which I received on the second day of our marriage and honestly, it really made my day. The feeling of inclusivity was palpable when I saw it for the first time, the emotional satisfaction of being accepted by them and now being a part of them. It might've unconsciously acted as a catalyst for me to accept them as my family too.

Shaking my head, I opened the door with my keys and entered in. The scent of Jasmine incense reached my nostrils, bringing in the familiar feeling of coming back home. This was something different I witnessed here. Maa religiously worshipped in the house temple every evening, and then spread the incense's smoke all over the house. She told me it is meant to spread positivity, and also, blessing our home. My family was religious, but I never saw this happening back home apart from festivals or special days.
