The city of Mumbai was alive with its usual hustle and bustle, the chaotic symphony of honking cars, chattering crowds, and the distant calls of street vendors. Yet, amidst the cacophony, Shivansh Rajvansh felt a profound silence, as if the world around him was muted. The sounds barely registered in his mind, drowned out by the deafening absence of Ruhi Kapoor. It had been six months since she disappeared, six agonizing months filled with sleepless nights and endless searching.

Shivansh sat on the balcony of his apartment, staring blankly at the horizon. The sun was setting, casting a warm golden hue over the city, but he felt no warmth. His eyes were fixed on the spot where the sky met the sea, his thoughts far away. In his hand, he held a small, silver bracelet. It was the only tangible reminder he had of Ruhi, apart from the countless memories that haunted his every waking moment. He traced his fingers over the tiny heart charm, his mind replaying their last conversation.

"Promise me, Shiv, no matter what happens, you'll always remember that I love you," Ruhi had whispered, her voice a soft plea, her eyes searching his. He had laughed then, brushing off her words as unnecessary. How could he not remember? Her love was the foundation of his existence, the very air he breathed.

"Ruhi..." he murmured to himself, the name a bitter echo in the empty apartment. He had tried everything to find her, hiring private investigators, searching through social media, and even consulting psychics out of sheer desperation. But it was as if she had vanished into thin air, leaving no trace behind. Every lead turned into a dead end, every hope dashed by the harsh reality that she was gone.

His phone buzzed on the table beside him, snapping him out of his reverie. He glanced at the screen, seeing the name of his best friend and business partner, Arjun Mehta. With a sigh, he picked up the call.

"Shiv, you need to get out of that apartment," Arjun's voice was firm, tinged with concern. "You've been holed up there for days. This isn't healthy, man."

Shivansh ran a hand through his hair, his voice weary. "I just... I don't know how to move on, Arjun. It's like I'm stuck in this loop, and I don't know how to get out."

"Then maybe it's time to take a break from searching," Arjun suggested gently. "Come to the office tomorrow. We have a meeting with the new clients. Distract yourself, even if it's just for a little while. You need to live, Shiv."

Live. The word felt hollow to Shivansh. What was life without Ruhi? What was the point? But he knew Arjun was right. He couldn't keep drowning in his sorrow, no matter how much the pain consumed him. With a reluctant nod, even though Arjun couldn't see him, he agreed. "Okay, I'll be there."

After the call ended, Shivansh stood up, placing the bracelet back in the small wooden box where he kept it. He walked to the window, looking out at the city below. It was teeming with life, a stark contrast to the emptiness he felt. Somewhere out there, Ruhi was living her life, hiding from him for reasons he still didn't understand. He clenched his fists, determination hardening his features. He would find her. No matter how long it took, no matter the obstacles, he would bring her back. She was his heart, and without her, he was nothing.

---

On the other side of the city, Ruhi Kapoor stood on the terrace of her rented apartment, her eyes also fixed on the horizon. The cool evening breeze played with her hair, and she wrapped her arms around herself, seeking comfort in the solitude. She missed Shivansh more than words could express. Every fiber of her being ached to be near him, to hear his voice, to feel his arms around her. But she had made her choice, a choice she believed was for his own good.

Tears welled up in her eyes as she remembered their last day together. How she had fought back her tears, smiled, and acted as if everything was normal. Leaving him had been the hardest thing she had ever done, but she couldn't bear the thought of being the cause of his pain. She had her reasons, reasons she kept locked away in her heart, reasons that haunted her every night.

"Shiv..." she whispered into the wind, her voice breaking. "I love you. I always will. But I can't come back... not now." She wiped away the tears, taking a deep breath. She had to be strong, for both their sakes. Love was supposed to be selfless, wasn't it? Then why did it feel like she was dying inside?

Ruhi turned away from the city lights, walking back into her apartment. She picked up a framed photograph from her bedside table, a picture of her and Shivansh from happier times. They were both laughing, eyes bright with joy, completely unaware of the storm that lay ahead. She traced his face with her finger, a sad smile playing on her lips.

"Maybe one day," she whispered to the photograph, "fate will be kind to us again." Until then, she would live in the shadows, keeping her love hidden, waiting for a future that might never come.

Writing this chapter was a roller-coaster of emotions.! I really felt the tension between the characters and it was hard to decide how things should play out. Hope you enjoyed it as much I did
