Short Preview
Almirante Grau is a warship in Warship Battle that unlocks after completing Chapter 5 or 6, she is also interestingly categorized in the game as a "Battleship" class or ship type. The reason is maybe cause she has the guns that looks like a Battleship gun, although she is actually a Light Cruiser (CL) until when she hand over to Peru as a Modern or Missile guided Light Cruiser (CLM) probally ? Let me know if wrong write this part. She could be purchased with a price of 5.800.000 Dollars, much a bit more expensive than Montana which is around 3.000.000 Dollars.

Originally builded as a De Zeven Provinciën-class light cruiser that served in the Dutch and Peruvian navies. Completed for the Dutch in 1953 as HNLMS De Ruyter (C801), she was acquired by Peru in 1973 and served as fleet flagship.

Almirante Grau underwent a major modernization program between 1985 and 1988 during which she was fitted with new weapons and electronics. She was the last gun cruiser in service in any navy before being decommissioned on 26 September 2017.

In 2019, it was to be said that she would be preserved as a museum ship. However, it was later announced on 14 February 2022 that the ship would put up for sale with an asking price of 4,180,000 soles (1,112,520 USD).

Overview
Despite her strangely categorizing as a "Battleship instead a "Cruiser" turns out there is a reason why she was placed in the class of the Big Guns or Battleships, in here i give 2 of my most opinion and analysis.

First of all, her main gun damage was quite high for a Cruiser and much more strongger than Sverdlov in their basic model or form.

Second, she is uniquely have high HP and Armor that could be side by side with the other Battleships but still lower to be tough as them.

Almirante Grau also became the first ship in the Battleship classes to carry Mines as a part of her weapon arsenal. Which these Mines are rarely founded on surface ships, cause these as extra weapon to the weapon arsenal for submarines, such as Typhoon and Oscar as an example. Beside that, her basic model doesn't have any torpedoes until you remodel her so you could get her torpedoes.

She is also is quite the cheap cost for upgrading like Montana, which makes a perfect ship you want to have in the fleet. However, like most Battleship cases based on my experience. Battleships are slow and very vulnerable to attacks from air and torpedo strikes, even her speed in basic model slightly more faster than other battleships, the main problem of her is about anti air defense. She only have 4 autocannons that could defend against all air and some surface targets but has a slow firing speed, she could be easily as a middle punching bag for enemy warships.

But this "Punching Bag" problem turns out to be her advantage, cause enemy ships will come closer to you and then they realize that they were being tricked by her powerful main guns to tear them apart.

Playing as Almirante Grau
When playing an Almirante Grau, remember to always make sure you have a range to make evasive manouvers or escape enemy attacks. You should also upgrading her speed, to allow you move faster, armor, increase her HP and Defense and radar to increase her radar range. Although damage is counted in, but in this game. Speed, HP, Defense is the key to survive.

You could use her mines as a tactic to luring enemies to come towards you or as a trap. If you on map with many narrow gap, and enemies intend to be there and chase if you get caught in their gun range, try to make them follow you to a gap, lay down some mines and wait till the enemy move towards you.They will soon automaticly blasted by the mines, keep in mind that jer mines explode in 10 Seconds after being released and float on the water.

Remodeling
Almirante Grau has 2 remodels or form, the first one is named Almirante Grau New and the second one is named Almirante Grau Vet. Let's take a look one by one !

Almirante Grau New
This form or model of Almirante Grau is focused to her gunnery ability where her main gun and secondary gun became one and have enchanced damage, it could deliver single powerful blow to an enemy and blast them from existence. She has an increased HP and and Armor than her basic one which makes her a no longger a Punching Bag, but became a moving medium or small fortress. Her speed and turn rate may not so good, but her high damaging guns have covered it, she also has an extra number of mine launchers and added torpedoes.

Almirante Grau Vet
This form or model of Almirante Grau is more focused in more secondary guns and high mobility, her HP and Defense may drop than "New" but her high speed and secondary guns covered it. This model is perfect for missions that requiered mobility and able to attack many enemies in a battle.

PROS AND CONS

Pros

1. Quite the damage for the main gun for a "Battleship"

2. Low cost upgrading which saves more money

3. Has Mines that could be useful for variety of strategies

4. Quite the speed

Cons

1. Quite hard to get without completing her Chapter and required a lot of money to purchase it

2. Her remodel it cost a bunch of gold, 1.200 Gold per models which is almost the same as the case of Kitty Hawk. Even Battleships like Montana or Iowa didn't reach that number

3. Other battleships still worth it to remodel and developing or even buying, like Super Tirpitz

Trivia :

1. Although she is a Light Cruiser for the first since she was launched, her uograding program as a Peruvian Navy ship makes her have more advantage and make her as CLM

2. She is known to be the last "Gun fighter" for the Peruvian Navy and including the Royal Dutch Navy due to she is the only one known to survives the World War 2 until the Modern Warships era

3. Her real name before renamed as Almirante Grau was De Ruyter
