"Do you think this sheet makes my ass look fat?" Daisy looks at Melody through the holes in her ghost costume.

"Girl, I think your ass makes that sheet look fat," Melody snorts, adjusting her own sheet over her head. "You're smoking hot, even as a ghost."

"Ya know, I think we made a good decision with these costumes." Daisy sits back on the porch swing, gripping a whiteclaw in her hand. "The socks, the roller skates, the sheets. It's a vibe."

"It's definitely a vibe, especially with the socks. Classic baddie style," Melody says, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "But remember, we're not just here for the aesthetic. We're here for the candy, and I'm not done until I have enough to last me a month!"

"Your dad is gonna kick your ass if you crash on sugar and booze before the night is up."

Melody laughs, throwing a piece of candy corn at Daisy. "Oh come on, Daisy. Live a little. Besides, it's Halloween! It's practically a law to eat your weight in candy and look hot doing it!"

Daisy snorts and pushes the candy through the eyehole of her sheet. "I'm saving that for later."

John comes outside, his own costume a well-tailored military uniform with his medals pinned to the chest. "Looks like you're all set for trick or treating. What's the plan?" His eyes flicker over to Daisy, and she feels a warmth spread through her that has nothing to do with the alcohol.

"Daisy and I were gonna roll around for a while. Maybe scare some little tots." Melody winks, nudging Daisy playfully.

John laughs, his gaze lingering on Daisy. "Just don't go scaring off any potential boyfriends, yeah? Gotta get outta my house eventually." He says it lightly, but Daisy catches the edge in his voice.

"Don't worry, Captain, I'll keep your little ghost out of trouble," Daisy quips, her voice muffled by the sheet.

John's eyes dance with amusement. "I'd appreciate that, Daisy." His voice holds a hint of something deeper, something that makes Daisy's stomach flutter. The tension between them is palpable, a live wire stretched tight.

Melody glances between them before jumping up and nearly falling over because of her roller skates. "Okay, okay. Time to go. You two can flirt later. We've got sugar to claim!"

John chuckles, standing up and offering Daisy his hand. She takes it, feeling the strength in his grip as he helps her to her feet. "Just remember, Daisy. You're the prettiest ghost on the block," he whispers in her ear.

Daisy giggles, the heat from his body warming her through the thin fabric of the sheet. "Flatterer," she murmurs, her voice teasing. John's eyes meet hers, and she sees the hunger in them, the desire that matches her own. For a moment, it's just the two of them, the rest of the world fading away into the background. But reality crashes back in as Melody grabs her by the arm, pulling her away from the porch. "Melody," Daisy whines, having enjoyed staring at her best friend's sexy dad.
