The sun was setting, casting a warm golden hue over the small town where Sonic and Shadow were about to get married. The excitement was palpable, with friends and family buzzing around, preparing for the big day. But beneath the surface, tensions simmered. This marriage was not born out of love, but out of necessity and arrangement. Sonic, a man known for his temper, heavy hand, and his struggles with alcohol, had never truly won Shadow's heart.

The night before the wedding, Sonic, fueled by alcohol, decided to visit Shadow at his hotel room, wanting to assert his control one last time before they were bound together forever. As he staggered towards the door, his mind clouded by the drink, he heard soft laughter and hushed whispers. His curiosity piqued, he pushed the door open, expecting to find Shadow alone and anxious.

Instead, he was met with a sight that sent a surge of drunken rage through him. Sonic was lying in bed, his body entwined with another man – Scrouge. The paramour immediately got up from Shadow's hotel bed, stumbling as he threw his clothing back on, escaping through the window just as Sonic came in. Unfortunately, he caught a quick glimpse of Scrouge's escape.

"Sonic," Shadow's voice cut through the haze, his tone cold and distant. "What are you doing here?"

Sonic's alcohol-fueled anger erupted. "What the hell was that, Shadow?" he slurred, his words slurred and his movements unsteady. "On the eve of our wedding?"

Shadow's indifference was like a knife to his intoxicated mind. "It is what it is. I didn't expect you to come here tonight."

"You think you can humiliate me like this?" Sonic's voice rose, his words slurred and filled with drunken rage. "After everything I've done for you?"

Shadow's gaze remained steady, his expression unwavering. "Everything you've done for me? You mean the beatings, the control, the fear? This marriage was never my choice, Sonic. And neither are you."

Sonic's drunken mind struggled to process his words. In a moment of confusion and fury, he lunged towards the bed, but his alcohol-addled coordination failed him, and he stumbled, falling to the floor with a loud crash.

For a moment, the room was filled with silence, broken only by Sonic's heavy breathing and the sound of Shadow's quiet snickers. As the weight of his actions, fueled by alcohol, crashed down on him, Sonic slowly got up, his eyes clouded with regret and shame. Without a word, he turned and stumbled out of the room, leaving behind a shattered illusion of control.
