Shadow and Scrouge had been living their best lives together, savoring every moment of their newfound freedom. Shadow had successfully escaped his impending marriage with Sonic, a decision that had weighed heavily on his heart but ultimately led him to Scrouge. Their days were filled with laughter, adventure, and an unspoken understanding that bound them closer with each passing day.
They traveled the world, exploring hidden corners and creating memories that would last a lifetime. Scrouge's carefree spirit complemented Shadow's more serious demeanor, and together they found a balance that brought out the best in each other. They shared dreams, hopes, and a love that felt unbreakable.
One of their favorite places was a secluded beach where the waves whispered secrets to the shore. They would spend hours there, talking about everything and nothing, basking in the warmth of the sun and each other's company. Shadow often marveled at how effortlessly Scrouge could make him smile, a rare and precious gift.
But as they settled into a cozy cabin on the outskirts of a quiet town, a sense of unease began to creep into their perfect world. Shadow couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss. Despite their happiness, there was a part of him that remained restless, haunted by the past he had left behind.
One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the room, there was a knock on the door. Shadow's heart skipped a beat as he opened it to find Sonic standing there, eyes filled with a mix of determination and sorrow.
"What are you doing here, Sonic?" Shadow asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
"I had to find you," Sonic replied, stepping inside. "I couldn't just let you go without a fight."
Scrouge, sensing the tension, stood protectively beside Shadow. "He's moved on, Sonic. You need to respect that."
Sonic's gaze shifted to Scrouge, then back to Shadow. "I know I made mistakes, but I can't lose you, Shadow. I love you."
Shadow felt a pang of guilt and confusion. He had found happiness with Scrouge, but Sonic's words stirred old feelings he thought he had buried. The room seemed to close in on him as he struggled to find the right words.
Scrouge took Shadow's hand, his grip firm and reassuring. "You don't have to go back, Shadow. We have a life here, a future."
Shadow looked between the two of them, his heart torn. He knew he had to make a choice, one that would define the rest of his life. Taking a deep breath, he finally spoke.
"Sonic, I care about you, but my heart belongs to Scrouge now. We've built something beautiful together, and I can't walk away from that."
Sonic didn't mutter not one sound, he was enraged, disgusted. How could his fiancé do such a thing? To even go as far as to stand him up on HIS own wedding day?!
"You think you could run and hide forever, my muse? You belong to ME."
