Chapter 5 - Snowfall

════ ⋆★⋆ ════

The first real snowfall of the season blanketed the town in a serene, soft white. Soojin stood by her bedroom window, entranced by how the snowflakes floated down, covering the streets and rooftops in silence. It felt like the world had paused, everything softer and calmer.

Her phone buzzed on the desk, pulling her out of her thoughts. It was a message from Karina.

"The snow’s insane! We’re heading to the café by the park. You coming?"

Soojin smiled, feeling a wave of excitement. The thought of gathering at their usual spot with her friends while watching the snow fall outside was just what she needed.

"I’ll be there in 10!"

She quickly bundled up in her warmest coat, wrapped a scarf around her neck, and slipped on her gloves before stepping outside. The crisp air nipped at her cheeks as she made her way to the café, her boots crunching in the fresh snow. The town felt like it had been dipped in powdered sugar, everything bright and pristine.

When she stepped into the café, the warmth and buzz of conversation instantly made her feel at home. She spotted Karina, Winter, Giselle, and Ningning by the large window that overlooked the park. They waved her over, their smiles wide and welcoming.

“Hey, Soojin! Over here!” Ningning called out, practically bouncing in her seat.

Soojin joined them, sliding into the seat next to Karina. The café was filled with the comforting scent of coffee and baked goods, and she sighed in contentment as she removed her gloves.

“This place is the perfect winter spot,” Winter said, cupping her hands around her hot chocolate.

“Seriously,” Giselle agreed, taking a sip of her latte. “Nothing beats watching the snow from in here.”

Karina grinned, nudging Soojin playfully. “So, how many snow angels have you made so far?”

Soojin laughed. “None yet, but I’m planning on it. The snow’s perfect today.”

Ningning leaned forward, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “You know what we need to do? A snowball fight. The park’s right there, and it’s begging for it.”

“Classic Ningning,” Winter teased, rolling her eyes. “Always ready to start something.”

Giselle smiled, shaking her head. “But she’s right. We haven’t had a proper snowball fight in ages.”

Soojin could feel the enthusiasm building among her friends. The idea of a snowball fight sounded fun, something to break the routine and enjoy the moment. “I’m in,” she said, her excitement growing.

——

The door to the café opened, and a gust of cold wind blew in. Soojin turned to see Heeseung walk in, shaking the snow from his hair. He scanned the room, his gaze landing on their table. With a smile, he made his way over and pulled up a chair to join them.

“Hey, what’s going on?” Heeseung greeted them, his voice warm.

“We’re planning a snowball fight in the park,” Karina announced with a grin. “You in?”

Heeseung raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. “A snowball fight? Sounds like trouble.”

“Good trouble,” Ningning corrected, her grin mischievous. “Don’t worry, we’ll go easy on you.”

Soojin laughed, feeling a wave of warmth from the camaraderie around the table. Tonight promised to be full of laughter and good memories, a perfect winter evening.
