Elena's fingers hovered over the piano keys as she took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. The rehearsal room was empty, save for the grand piano in front of her, yet the weight of the decisions she needed to make felt heavier than ever. The upcoming performance was her chance to shine, but her heart was still divided between Ethan and Luca.

She had spent days wrestling with her emotions, trying to figure out what her heart truly wanted. But every time she thought she had an answer, doubts crept in, leaving her more confused than before. The music was her only solace, the one place where she could escape from the chaos in her mind.

As she began to play, the notes filled the room, soft and melancholic. It was a piece she had composed herself, inspired by the whirlwind of emotions she had been feeling. The melody ebbed and flowed, mirroring the uncertainty and longing that had been plaguing her for so long.

Just as she was losing herself in the music, the door to the rehearsal room opened, and Luca walked in. Elena's fingers faltered on the keys as she looked up, her heart skipping a beat at the sight of him.

"Luca," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

He smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes. "I didn't mean to interrupt. I just wanted to see you before the performance tonight."

Elena nodded, her heart aching at the sight of him. Luca had always been there for her, patient and understanding, even when she didn't deserve it. But she couldn't shake the feeling that she was leading him on, stringing him along when she wasn't sure if she could give him what he deserved.

"I'm glad you came," she said softly. "I've been doing a lot of thinking."

Luca nodded, sitting down on the bench beside her. "I figured you might be. I just want you to know that, no matter what you decide, I'll be here for you, Elena. I care about you more than anything, and I want you to be happy."

Elena felt tears well up in her eyes, and she quickly wiped them away. "You've always been so good to me, Luca. I don't know what I did to deserve you."

He chuckled, but there was a sadness in his eyes. "You deserve the world, Elena. I just hope I can be a part of it."

Before Elena could respond, there was another knock at the door, and Ethan stepped into the room. The tension in the air was palpable as Ethan's gaze met Luca's, and Elena's heart pounded in her chest.

"Ethan," she said, her voice trembling.

He nodded in acknowledgment, his expression unreadable. "I just wanted to wish you luck tonight, Elena. You're going to be amazing."

Elena felt the weight of both their gazes on her, and she realized that she couldn't keep putting off the inevitable. She had to make a decision, for her sake and theirs.

Taking a deep breath, she stood up from the piano bench and faced them both. "I need to say something," she began, her voice steady despite the turmoil inside her. "I've been so confused for so long, trying to figure out what my heart wants. And I've realized that I can't keep hurting you both like this."

Luca and Ethan both watched her, their expressions tense, as if bracing themselves for what she was about to say.

"I care about you both so much," Elena continued, her voice breaking slightly. "But I know I have to make a choice. And I've made it."

She turned to Luca first, her heart aching as she saw the hope in his eyes. "Luca, you've been everything I could ever want in a partner. You're kind, patient, and understanding, and I will always be grateful for everything you've done for me. But... my heart belongs to someone else."

Luca's face fell, and Elena felt a pang of guilt, but she knew she had to be honest.

"I'm so sorry, Luca," she whispered. "I never wanted to hurt you, but I can't deny my feelings any longer."

Luca nodded, his expression pained but accepting. "I understand, Elena. I just want you to be happy."

Tears filled Elena's eyes as she turned to Ethan, her heart pounding in her chest. "Ethan, you've challenged me, pushed me, and made me feel things I never thought I would. I don't know what the future holds, but I know that I want to find out with you."

Ethan's eyes softened, and a small smile tugged at the corners of his lips. "I've been waiting for you to say that."

Elena let out a shaky breath, relief washing over her. She had made her choice, and for the first time in what felt like forever, she felt a sense of peace.

Luca stood up from the bench, giving her a sad smile. "Take care of her, Ethan. She deserves the best."

Ethan nodded, his gaze never leaving Elena's. "I will."

As Luca left the room, Elena felt a mixture of sadness and relief. She knew she had hurt him, but she also knew that she had to be true to herself.

Ethan walked over to her, taking her hands in his. "Are you ready for tonight?"

Elena nodded, a small smile tugging at her lips. "With you by my side, I think I am."
