As soon as they stepped into the house, Haeun's mother couldn't contain her curiosity. She immediately started asking questions, her tone playful but eager. "So, Haeun, who is this handsome young man? Is he your boyfriend?" she teased, her eyes twinkling with interest.

Haeun's cheeks flushed slightly as she quickly shook her head, feeling a bit flustered by her mother's directness. "No, Mom, he's just a friend," she replied a little too quickly, trying to downplay the situation.

But before she could say more, Riki joined the conversation with a grin, his voice lighthearted. "Mrs. Lee, don't tell me you've forgotten me already," he said, a playful glint in his eyes.

Haeun's mother paused, a look of surprise crossing her face as she studied Riki more closely. Then, recognition dawned on her, and her eyes widened. "Wait a minute... Riki? Little Riki from down the street?" she exclaimed, clearly shocked but delighted. "Oh my goodness, you've grown up so much! I barely recognized you!"

Riki chuckled, nodding. "That's me. It’s been a while, hasn’t it?" he said, his tone warm and nostalgic.

Mrs. Lee shook her head in disbelief, her smile growing wider. "I can't believe it! You were just a little boy the last time I saw you. And now look at you!" She turned to Haeun, her expression a mix of surprise and delight. "You never told me you reconnected with Riki!"

Haeun relaxed a bit, seeing that her mother's initial questions were now directed more at their history than their current relationship. "It’s kind of a recent thing," Haeun explained, her smile more genuine now. "After you and dad left he came

And he was the one who had to bring me home

Mrs. Lee beamed, clearly pleased by the turn of events. "I’m so glad to see you again, Riki. You were always such a sweet kid," she said, patting his arm affectionately. "Come on in, both of you. I can’t wait to hear more about what you’ve been up to."

As they followed Mrs. Lee further into the house, Haeun glanced at Riki, feeling a wave of relief. The initial tension had dissolved, replaced by a sense of comfort in the familiarity of the situation. Riki’s easygoing nature and their shared history had quickly put her mother at ease, and now, the evening felt like it was off to a good start.
