A hug.... It's just a hug... with Ian of all people. But just a hug regardless.

"Uhm... Ian... I think... I think it's the app..." I tilt my phone towards him and he looks at me, unamused, obviously not believing me. "I think this app somehow trapped us in here... or like— the person behind this app? And it won't uhm.... Let us out until we do the task so like, hug...?" He glared at me, realizing I'm not joking and I could tell his jaw clenched.

"So, you really expect me to believe that this stupid little app of yours wants us to hug SOOO badly that it would trap us in here? Get a fuckin grip." He turns back towards the door and tries to turn the handle aggressively, pushing his shoulder against the door, his actions getting more and more anger filled by the second. He was practically slamming his body against the door at this point.

"Ian.... Why don't we just.. give it a try?" I walk up to him, my voice feigning confidence, still quivering slightly despite trying to hide it as I put a hand on his shoulder. I could see him side eye me over his shoulder, if his eyes could, they'd be glowing red right now, he. Is. Furious.

He angrily grabbed the wrist of my hand that was placed on his shoulder, clenching his jaw as he brings his face close to mine. "Fine! But if it doesn't work, I'm beating your ass and making sure you NEVER wake up..." he let go of my wrist, practically shoving it back towards me and extended his arms slightly, looking away with a disinterested look. I just kinda stood there, awkward and unsure. is this a trap? Or is he actually just gonna let me hug him.

"Well..? You gonna do it or what?" He mumbled, obviously annoyed. I looked up at his face and was met with a look of irritation and annoyance, his eyebrow raised and eyes slanted angrily.

"Y-yeah... sorry." My voice quivered, still nervous. Unsure and fearing my safety as stepped up to him slowly and wrapped my arms around his waist awkwardly, my face slightly pressed against his chest. He smelled good at least... I wonder what cologne he uses...
His arms lazily placed themselves on my back and I couldn't help but breathe in more of his scent, seriously, whatever cologne he wears is oddly addictive. I can't stop smelling it, I mindlessly pressed my face against his chest a little more, before i suddenly felt a hard flick against my forehead. "Ow..."

"What in the fuck are you doing?" He shoved me away from him, his eyebrow raised in disgust. "I did not need to be touching you like that for that long... especially while you're covering in water like that... ugh...." well I wonder who's fault that is... He placed a hand on his face and groaned before turning back towards the door and grabbing the handle.

Click...

The door opened just as my phone buzzed. I didn't even bother pulling out my phone, as I knew the message would be all the same: "Task Complete..." Ian didn't even hesitate before walking out of the door, without even so much as a "bye" or a "thanks Daniel, my savior, for getting us out of this situation." I roll my eyes and grab the hem of my shirt, still wet, but not as soaked as it was before. I gotta go take care of this before I go home, it's too cold to be walking home in this condition.

After going to the boys locker room and changing into a spare white shirt and some gym shorts I went home in the cold. dry gym shorts are better than wet jeans, so I took anything I could get. I'm totally gonna scold Zandra for this when I see her Tomorrow, I knew this was gonna happen.

I grab to handle to my front door, trying to push it open only to realize that it's locked. I sigh before holding my breath, checking under the rug only to see no key. Fuck... mom forgot about us again.... I groan, letting out a disappointed breath before plopping down on the front doorstep, supporting my chin with the palm of my hand. I would just go for a walk somewhere but I don't want to leave and have Katie wait outside the house until mom gets home all by herself. Maybe I should just text mom when Katie gets home, she can have a friend of hers pick us up or something.

I spent my time daydreaming, waiting for about an hour for Katie's but to drop her off before pulling out my phone to text mom. "Mom? U forgot the keys again. Katie's home alr and idk if ur able to have someone pick us up or not." I put my phone on my lap, waiting for an answer before turning to Katie trying to distract her and cheer her up.

"Katieee! how was school was it fun?" I smile and grab her hands as she jumps up and down eagerly, giggling, the key chains of little bunnies on her backpack jingling with every little hop.

"Hi bubbaaaaa~! It was really really funn! Our teacher said we maybe will do harderer stuffs tomorrow though." She pouts a little, her excited bouncing stopping, "but today we just colored with the cradons." I don't bother correcting her pronunciation of crayons this time, I just smile and nod.

"That's super cool Katie! What'd you color?" I glance down at my phone, hoping for a response while keeping Katie happy and distracted. "Um sure. I'll have an old friend from high school pick you up since we stay in contact from time to time still."

"K" I respond, I didn't need the whole backstory, but I'm grateful I don't have to sit out in the cold for much longer.

After a little bit of playing patty cake and keeping Katie entertained a black car pulled up with tinted windows. Yeah because that's not fucking creepy at all... the owner of the car rolled down the windows and a combed back, blonde haired man in a suit with round glasses resting upon his nose appeared from behind the tinted window.

"Hello, you must be Daniel." A bright smile forms on his face, his sparkling blue eyes crinkling along with his dimples. He looks to be in his mid 40's and looks pretty wealthy. Is this the "friend" mom sent over to pick us up...? I look over at Katie and she comes up to me, grabbing my arm shyly and the man's eyes seem to brighten as he changes the pitch of his voice into a softer one. "Hello, You must be Katie. No need to be shy sweetheart, I'm an old friend of your mother." He tilts his head and smiles gesturing to the back seat's car door.

"Listen, not that I want to doubt you, but how do I know that we can trust you? You could be a kidnapper for all I know." I cross my arms protectively and raise an eyebrow, not moving towards the car at all. He immediately smiled and chuckled.

"Your mother truly raised a smart young man, as expected of her." He put a gloved hand to his face, resting his chin on his fist. "Very smart of you to be weary but I assure you that your mother contacted me." He paused for a moment before pulling out his phone with his free hand. "Link" he suddenly spoke and my posture relaxed. Link is our mother's code word that me and her made whenever kidnappings were prevalent in our town a few years back. Link is also the name of my childhood dog that passed away when I was 8, so the code word is kinda in his memory.

I turned towards Katie who was still obviously a little scared but I grabbed her hand and smiled at her softly. "Don't worry kaykay, he's a good guy, c'mon." He gently tug her hand and she nods, following me to the man's car as we pull open the car door and hop into the back seat, Katie holding on tightly to me. "So, mr....?"

"You can call me Vincent, no need for formalities." He looks at me through the rear view mirror, gloved hands gripping the steering wheel as he turns he attention back onto the road.

"Ah, okay. So... Vincent, you know my mom? No offense, but you don't seem like the type of person my mom would be friends with." I fidget with the hem of my white shirt, the fabric mostly dry now. He chuckled brightly, seeming somewhat amused by my question.

"Your mother was a brilliant woman, we met in high school and I was quite unfair to her to be honest. But I apologized during our senior year, during prom funnily enough. her boyfriend didn't like me very much, for obvious reasons, But ever since then, we've kept in contact and I've loaned her money occasionally when she needed it. I'd rather spend my wealth on food than unnecessary glam, y'know?" The entire time his eyes were trained on the road, but I could tell he was somewhat spaced out thinking about how he and my mom met.

This man was surely interesting and I have a feeling I know very little about him.
