Arthur and the Battle Within

Chapter 12: Returning to the Kingdom Yet Again

Both Arthur, James and Selenia head into his grandparents house for lunch as Daisy had yet again made too much. "Seriously grandma, can you not make so much food knowing that nobody is going to finish it?" He said while wiping his mouth from the drool. It all looked really really good and filling for the belly. They all sat around the table as Arthur stuffed his face while James, Selenia, and Daisy are shocked that he was still doing that. He looks up from his plate as they all facepalm him. "What?..." 

As shocked as they were, Selenia was already used to his behavior as king and knew him all to well. The habits that he had formed were pretty unusual which had some of the minimoys who had gave him help were concerned about. Miro even became worried even though he wasn't there to begin with alongside Betameche, who is taking over for him again but only temporarily as per usual.

No minimoy king had the habits that Arthur had. Sure he may be different from other kings like Sifrat, but the work that was put in to making the kingdom better was on a scale no other royalty could accomplish in that specific timeframe. 

"So Arthur, How are things going in the kingdom?" Rose asked curious as to how being the new king of the minimoys was for him. He glances up from his plate and nods his head before swallowing and responding with a resounding "Incredible, the amount of work that I had done was astronomical. So far, things are looking pretty good."

Selenia smiles at him after the compliment he had made about himself and the kingdom that he now rules. Both his mom and dad gaze at him amazed at what he could do. It was incredible that their son was ruling an entire kingdom and in all their years of work, their achievements couldn't amount to that of what he could do. They both glanced at each other, then looked back at Arthur who met their eyes from his plate. "What...I'm hungry!" 

Shoveling the food down his gullet, Arthur stood up and headed back to his home on the hill plopping down onto the bed and sleeping throughout the day from a full belly. Upon waking up in the middle of the night, he sees Selenia sleeping peacefully by his side as he slowly rises from his bed and creeps outside to gaze up at the moon in the near cloudy night.

The next night was to be his last with his family before returning and making his legacy known throughout the seven kingdoms as a magnificent ruler who's heart was in the right place at the right time. Both Beta, Selenia, and Arthur bid them all goodbye as they headed back to the tunnel where they both took hold of the elixir and downed them in one gulp. The shrinking happened and all was normal. "Shall we head home?" he asked as both nodded in agreement. They started their walk back through the damp and dark tunnel until they came to the familiar gate that led them to the kingdom where Arthur reigned. 

On the other side of the door, the guards could see the silhouette of three minimoys as they came into view. Both yelled and the gate swung open allowing them to waltz right on through being greeted by the other minimoys who awaited their arrival. Ascending the stairs for Selenia's home, they both give one last wave to the crowd before slipping inside with Arthur jumping on the bed and soon falling asleep without a peep. 

Hours go by and even into the night, until he woke up and realized the amount of work that needed to be done had yet to be completed. Rubbing his head in frustration, he jolts out of bed with no sound being emanated, he goes out and quietly closes the door behind him with Selenia still in a deep slumber, creeping down the stairs and tiptoed into the palace straight for the office and did all the work for the time that he was away with his family in the human world on a business trip. 

Time went by so very fast and it was done. He stands up from the chair stretching his limbs before slugging his way back to the home. Slowly opening the door, he sees Selenia already awake and making breakfast as she turns to see him entering. "Welcome home honey, I was just about to have breakfast and..." Upon closer inspection, she notices bags under his eyes and deduces he was up working while she slept which upset her greatly as she too wanted to do some work with him as well but was too tired to continue further and fell asleep.

A small smile sneaks across her lips as her eyes narrow in a teasing manner. Arthur notices this and turns away knowing what that look of hers means. Was he in trouble? His eyes enlarge wondering what she was gonna do. He quickly walks over to the bed, folding his hands and begins to stare down at the floor as he slowly looks up and sees her standing over him with her arms crossed.  I don't like the look you're giving me. It's freaking me out!  Screaming internally, she leans in close to his ear and whispers "Next time, tell me when you wake up and head out for work so that I can join you next time... ok?"

He nods slowly and falls back onto the bed looking up at the ceiling. "What will these days have in store for me?" he mutters to himself.

Looking back on it, the moment of becoming king seemed foreign to him, almost non existent until he married the princess and all the pieces fell into place. The future seemed pretty bright. Just him, his family, his wife and Betameche was all he needed. The only thing left was to bring James into the mix and the good times will come rolling in.

Who knows what the future will hold for Arthur and all his friends as well as his wife. We know one thing. The adventures never end. He decides to depart to the human realm but will still keep in touch with his kingdom. If anything threats were to arise, he'd come back and help them deal with whatever it is.
