"On an island in the sun,We'll be playing and having fun
And it makes me feel so fine
I can't control my brain"
———————————————————————Daisy rummaged around the storage shed next to her trailer. The air inside the small crowded space was filled with dust, itching the girl's lungs anytime she moved things around.
She searched in between coughing fits before finally finding what she'd been looking for. Her daisy yellow french bike. Daisy had stopped using the old thing after she got her car, but the time had come for it to become useful again.
Daisy pulled it out of the clutter, almost falling when it finally came out. It was covered in dust, its color almost faded, and as Daisy leaned down to check the tires, she found them empty.
So she dived back into the storage shed to find the air pump. After finding it she sat on the patchy dead grass that was her lawn and began pumping air. Her arms tire with every pump but she doesn't stop until both tires are full of air.
Once done, Daisy dusted off any grass and dust from her shorts before mounting the bike and riding off.
The sun was now starting to rise as she rode through the cut over to John B's house. She hoped he was there and had her phone. She didn't use Barry's to call for help because then he'd know she never called a friend to get her out of the storm.
Daisy passed neighbors whose houses were ruined by the hurricane. Trees fallen onto roofs, fences ripped from the ground and cars smashed by collateral damage. Seeing all the damage, the girl worried for her car. Daisy pedaled faster as her thighs burned from the constant pedaling and finally let out a sigh of relief when she made it to John B's house.
The girl's eyes trailed over the state of her beloved Chateau. Fallen trees and large branches covered what was the house's lawn, making it look abandoned. Daisy hopped over tree trunks as she made her way onto the porch before walking into the house without knocking.
