Chapter 4: Rescue Part 1

The next week was, unfortunately, not relaxing for Six. His new roommate was for lack of a better term, difficult. Admittedly, she wasn't the worst company he could ever remember, but dealing with someone with an incredibly inconsistent temperament was mentally draining, to say the least. True, Loona had been somewhat amicable, but it was evident that she still didn't trust him despite everything he had done for her considering the number of times she had snapped at him whenever he started asking about her past. Not that he blamed her. After all the last men she had been with had been Legion soldiers, so it was most likely they had done some horrible things to her, on top of the beatings she had received. He just hoped he would be able to help her with her trauma.

"All right then, your leg should be better, so I believe it's time to hit the road," Six declared as he began to pack his bags. After spending a week in a ghost town that stank of death, he was more than ready to move on.

"So, I guess you're going to keep chasing the shithead who tried to put a cap it your head?" Lonna asked leaning on the doorframe.

"Not yet," Six answered as he continued to pack, "First, I've got to deliver the news about the Nipton attack to the Mojave, maybe yell at them for not doing their job, and get some more supplies. Besides, that shithead who tried to kill me didn't seem to be the type to go gallivanting around Mojave so I doubt he would be going any further than New Vegas. But that's enough about me. What have you decided to do?"

Loona froze at the question. True she had been expecting him to ask the question, but for some reason, it still took her by surprise. After all, considering her attitude towards him, she was surprised that he was still extending his offer of traveling together. "I-I haven't been able to decide," she admitted, "On the one hand, you've been more than helpful and were willing to take the time to make sure I recovered, but on the other hand, I still don't feel comfortable with trusting someone I've only known for a week."

"So, you're saying you need some more time to think it over?" Six asked. Loona didn't answer but her expression made it clear that she needed more time to think.

"Well, It's going to take about 2 hours for me to walk to the Mojave Outpost and another 2 hours for me to walk back, but knowing my luck, I'll just get slowed down by someone or something trying to kill me, so I'll probably be away for about 6 hours. You can tell me your decision when I get back. How does that sound?" Six asked.

"How do I know you will come back?" Loona asked skeptically, "Also, how do you know those Legion fuckers won't come back?"

"Well, my only other route to New Vegas is infested with deathclaws, so I'd have to come back this way. And neither of us has seen hide or hair of the Legion for the whole week we've been here, so I think you should be fine, especially seeing as you're mobile again," Six explained, though he did sound a little uncertain about the last part.

"Well, if you're sure," Loona said hesitantly. She was still unsure about being left alone but she was still unsure about travelling with Six. She hated the fact that even after a week she still seemed unable to decide on a course of action. For all she knew Six could only be pretending to be nice only to fuck her over at the last minute. It wouldn't be the first time someone had tried to do this, so she was still wary about Six, even though he seemed nice. Loona was suddenly removed from her train of thought when she noticed that Six had handed her an enormous pistol and ammunition box.
