" should we do a surprise test? "

Jake questioned abruptly, and the younger's mouth dropped open, eyes blew big in an exaggerated response, the glittery pouch of stationary slipping from his clumsy hand and falling softly on the pink carpet making a soft thud sound.

"Sir, m-might we try again another day? "

Jake just smiled, his expression poised and stared at the younger as he attempted to talk him out of taking any tests today since he wasn't ready.

" Why is Sunoo-shi doing this? I thought we had gone over the entire syllabus, and you had previously stated that all your doubts are cleared. What has changed since then?"

He persisted in his questioning in a soft yet firm tone, making Sunoo numb from nervousness.

"Sunoo-shi, please respond to my questions."

His calm tone sent shivers down the younger's spine as he fluttered his eyes and fiddled with the hem of his baby pink t-shirt, trying to think of something to blame.

"I apologize, sir. I'm not sure I'm confident with the last chapter, I realized I had some doubts that I forgot to attend previously."

He cast a quick glance over at the elder, who was staring calmly, to see if he was buying his lies. The elder one only sighed and fluffed up the rimless glasses perched on his lofty nose bridge.

"That's okay, you ought to have mentioned that you're still unsure."

He smiled reassuringly at him, which made the younger feel a little at ease, ducking his head apologetically he muttered.

"I apologize, sir."

Without further ado, he pulled out his biology textbook, set it down on the tiny coffee table in front of him, turned to the last chapter, and stopped at a single page randomly.

A printed schematic showing the reproductive systems of men and women was labeled in great detail.

To be quite honest, he was merely trying to protect himself from an unexpected test; he didn't have any serious doubts in that chapter or any other but since he started lying, he may live up to it, plus choosing a complex chapter might be risky so he went along with this one.

"Which one did you not comprehend?"

asked Jake as he leaned in to have a better look at the diagrams.

"Well, this one... "

Sunoo's voice trailed off, nonchalantly pointing to the depiction of the female reproductive system with not so detailed diagrams, specifically the one showing a vagina, as he didn't even know what to ask.

"I see."

Whispering, Jake ran his fingers over the schematic. He felt a little too exposed under the elder's gaze as Jake's eyes returned to the younger's bare thighs.

Instinctively Sunoo closed his legs as much as he could without being obvious, clapping his hands in front of his crotch.

Jake only gave a slight smirk.

" This? Last time I taught this portion to you, Sunoo-shi, you seemed to understand everything and even nodded along. Did you not say that you understood? "

Suddenly he felt very nervous, biting his lips he could only avoid making eye contact, scared if his little lie would be out in the open.

" hah... it's fine Sunoo-shi, no need to be shy or nervous, we are here to learn after all. From now on, if you have even the slightest bit of doubt, you ask me immediately. "

Sunoo's felt his tongue tied, unable to utter a single word, he isn't good at lying he knows but he still does it. He could only nod dumbly, wishing upon every start that his tutor just didn't catch on his silly lie.

" maybe the problem is our way of learning "

Jake started, twirling a metallic pen around his slender fingers effortlessly before he cast a serious look at the younger who stilled.

" maybe if we study and observe an actual vagina it will be a lot easier to remember "
