Cordelia P.O.V. Life with one arm isn't that bad. Sure people are always concerned with you, your mostly by yourself, and people always think you can't do things by your self. But it's not that bad once you get used to it.
I was on my way to school when I see Vince's car. I hide behind a tree as he drives by. "Phew. he didn't see me"I whisper. One thing that I don't like about my missing arm was I was a huge target for the school bully Vince. The only one he targeted other than me was a young boy about 12 named Rafael, Raf for short.
As I got to school I saw Raf with two other kids I didn't know. A girl and a boy. In fact the only people who's names I knew were the teachers, Vince, and Raf. I walked towards the door hoping Vince wasn't there yet.
But I was out of luck who should burst through the doors but Vince himself with a few of his "friends". "Hey Cordelia. wheres my homework?" He asks. "Right here I say as I start to fell for it in my backpack. It wasn't there!
"Hurry up!" he yells. "It it's not there" I respond. "What do you mean it's not there!" he yells mad. Catching the attention of those other kids. "It...It's not in my backpack I must have left it at home"I declare. "Well then I guess i'll just have to take yours!" he yells again.
He grabs my backpack. Shoving me to the ground. taking my homework out he throws my backpack into the parking lot. He turns around to leave but runs into a boy. I can't make out cause of the tears in my eyes. " I think you have something that's hers." The boy states. "Move out of my way Jack!" Vince yells.
"Not until you give her her homework back." The boy who's name I presume is Jack responds. "What's it to you?" Vince asks mad. "It's not yours it's hers and if you don't give it back now then I will!" Jack reply's his voice raising as he gets mad. "OH, and how are you going to do that?" Vince reply's.
Suddenly, Jack punches him in the face knocking him over. "Go get him Jack!!!" A girl yells. Jack snatches up my homework as Vince stands up with a black eye. Vince storms off with his "friends". "And don't come back!" The girl yells.
Are you okay?" Jack asks me extending his hand to help me up. "I'll be fine." I reply sheepishly. I take his hand and he helps me up. "My names, Jack whats yours?" he asks me. "Cordelia." I say as I go pick up my backpack. Suddenly the bell rings. "Whelp better get to class, Oh here's your home work."Jack says "Thanks." I respond still a bit shy. "See you later he yells running off to his friends. "see you to." I respond.
{Lunch time in the cafeteria}
I walk to the back with my food and sit down. While thinking of what I will do today I don't notice Jack and his friends walk up. "Hi" Jack says. I look up as they sit down. "hi" I reply shyly. "Hi My names Miko." a Japanese girl. that has black pigtales with pink tips and one long braid down the back says. "Whats yours. Is it hard having one arm. how do you drive? do you have a car? how old are you? Or is it a motorcycle? Where do you live? This is Raf. When did you start coming to school? Is it just me or did Jack look cool punching Vince? What did you get for lunch? How old are you?"
"Miko let her speak." Jack states putting a hand on her shoulder. "No, no it's fine I got most of the questions......" I answer them all with pinpoint accuracy. ".......last but not least. I'm 15 years old." "we should totally hangout more!" Miko practically yells." " Miko were busy most of the time with after school stuff and we have science fiction club on the weekends remember." "Oh." I respond. "not that we don't want to hangout with you" Raf adds. "Were just busy." "No it's fine" I reply.
"We can hang out on sunday. I'll get Ben to pick you up and we can all go to my house. I'm sure my host parents won't mind. Bring your favorite videogame!" Miko yells. "Cool." I reply. "Ever played mod nation?" "No." they all respond. "Well your in for a treat." I say getting up to go to my next class. "wait. are you even able to play?" Raf calls after me. "Oh you have no Idea!" I yell back.
{Later on sunday outside my house waiting for Miko(see photo above)}
A green jeep drives up and Miko jumps out. "Wow your house is cool we should hang out here some time. come on!" she yells running up and grabbing my hands and pulling me towards the car "I'm coming. I'm coming." I reply. "Be patient." "Well my brother doesn't have all day he's needed somewhere."Miko retorts.
"Thank you for taking the time to pick me up Ben" I say to him as we get in the jeep. "I'ts fine Miko's told me a lot about you." Ben reply's. "Yeah I have been exited." Miko says sheepishly. "Exited. now that's an understatement you should have seen her earlier she was so exited she was bouncing on the seat before we got here." Ben responds.
{At Miko's house up in her room with Jack and Raf.}
"So how exactly are you going to be able to play this?" Jack asks while it lodes. "You'll see" An hour later we've all made our mods and are ready to race. Miko laughs at the funny video. "Three....Two....One....Go!" the announcer yells. I pull into second lead heading for my arch nemesis Espresso. "Aghhhhh!!!" Miko yells. "That's not fair! now i'm in last!"
"Agh! This Espresso guy is killing me. how do you beat him!" Raf asks from third "And how are you in second?!?!" It's called skill and lots of practice I say. now I'm on the second lap. "I've beat everyone but Espresso. He's the champ!" I state. Raf gets 3 boxes and fires rockets at me I dodge and they hit Espresso Allowing me to take the lead.
{Later when we head home}
"Wow! you really can do anything you beat us all 5 times with one hand and beat Espresso!" Miko says in the car. "Thanks again for driving me home Ben. I really appreciate it." I say to him to try and start a conversation. "Don't think of it. i'm happy to have someone other than Miko in the car" "HEY!!!!" Miko yells when she hears Ben's comment. "Just kidding sis you know I love to hear you talk."
Soon where at my house. I hop out. "Bye Cordelia see you at school tomorrow!" Miko yells from the jeep. "Bye Miko!" I yell back the door closes and they drive away. I walk up the steps to my house unlock the door and walk in locking it behind me. I walk up the stares to my room.
Flopping on the bed I fall asleep quickly. (If you don't like gore please skip this section if not then read on)
~We were driving to a restaurant me and my parents. A drunken driver fails to stop at the light. He hit our car taking out the front with my Mom and Dad. I had my left arm wrapped around the front seat. I remember the car behind hitting us. there was blood everywhere. all I could remember was the mixed chatter. Sirens and lights where all around. I couldn't make anything out. I couldn't fell anything. Blackness was all around me, sucking me in to the darkness. I was lifted onto a stretcher. all I could make out was "Hurry..............get her in..........................will she survive..................to soon to tell................move............get her in.................................why I'd like to teach that driver a lesson.........." After that darkness. "She's coming out of the coma." I heard a voice say I open my eyes a little. I saw a doctor and a few nurses. "Where am I?" I ask. "Sweetie do you remember anything."I feel a sharp pain in my left arm and turn to see no arm at all. Suddenly It all hit me. My parents where gone. My arm was gone. I was all alone.~
I woke up hot and sweaty. "Calm down Cordelia. It was a long time ago. don't let it get to you." I go downstairs and make some tea to try to shake the feeling. After It's done I go over and sit down on the couch. I turned on the Tv to try distract myself. I finish the tea but can't get my dream to go away. At like 3:30 in the morning I finally fall into a dreamless sleep on the couch.
