~ Colten's Pov

I walked around the corner of my building, stopping in my tracks at the sight of her. She stopped in her tracks too, analyzing my being. "Amirah." To say I was shocked to see her was an understatement. Why was she here? Was her friend serious? I swiftly eyed my wrapped up shoulder before meeting her gaze again.

I stepped forward, she stepped back. She seemed to think for a second before speaking up.

"I'm taking you to court, Colten."

~Haven's Pov

I rolled down my window for the officer when she tapped on it. "Do you know why I stopped you?" No greeting? Rude. "No."

"Have you had anything to drink tonight?"

"No."

"Okay, License and registration." Damn can I know what I di-. "I pulled you over because you blew through a red light." She interrupts my thoughts. I handed her my license and registration as she continued talking, simply nodding my head. I didn't have the energy to deal with this right now.

I watched as she walked back to her car after telling me to sit tight. After a few minutes, she returned back to my window. "Where are you heading?"

"Home."

"And how far up the road is that?" She handed me my things back.

"Like two minutes."

"Can you tell me why you blew through the light? Or.. What's going on?"

"Just a long night. A lot going on right now. I'm not drunk, I'm not high. You can test me if you want." She seemed to think for a second.

"No we're not gonna do that. Listen, I should be giving you a ticket right now, but I'm not gonna do that. Get home safely, pay attention to the road. Once I get in my car and turn my lights off you can go. " I nodded my head and she tapped the roof of my car before walking back to hers.

I did as she said, pulling off once she turned her lights off and went home. Once I stepped through the door, I debated telling Amirah that I got pulled over, but a part of me noted that we've already been through a lot today. I plopped down on the couch, playing out our conversation in my head again.

As if thinking about her summoned her call, I watched her name pop up on my phone.

"Hello?"

"I want to take him to court." The serious tone she used made me sit up. "What?" I had to make sure I heard her correctly. "I want to take him to court, Haven."

"When?"

"As soon as possible. I will call my lawyer tomorrow."

"You know I'll support whatever you want to do-"

"I don't want you there with me. He has seen your face. He knows your voice. He could turn this whole thing around and tell them what you did. And if he has some sort of dash cam he can show them what you did."

"We were on the side of his car-"

"That's not the point. How do you know he doesn't have cameras all around. How do you know he hasn't already gone to the police and told them."

"I got pulled over tonight and nothing happened. She actually let me go without even giving me a ticket." There was silence for a couple of seconds.

"Pulled over for what?"

"Blowing through a red light. My mind was just jumbled." Silence again.

"My God, Haven. What is going on with you lately?" I didn't know how to answer the question. I was actually quite confused by it.
