The following week, Maya’s life took an unexpected turn when she was out with Lila at a local park. The weather was perfect, and they had decided to spend the afternoon enjoying the sunshine. As they strolled through the park, Maya noticed an unusual amount of activity around the playground area.Children laughed and played, and parents chatted, but a small group of people with cameras stood out. Maya initially brushed it off, thinking they were just enthusiastic fans of some local event or celebrity. However, as they continued their walk, she noticed the group following them at a distance.
“Mom, who are those people?” Lila asked, pointing to the photographers.
Maya glanced back, her stomach tightening with unease. “I’m not sure, sweetie. Let’s just keep walking.”
Despite her best efforts to avoid drawing attention, the photographers seemed intent on capturing every moment. Maya’s anxiety grew as the flashes from their cameras became more frequent. She tried to ignore them, focusing on making the day enjoyable for Lila, but the situation was becoming increasingly stressful.
When they finally reached a quieter area of the park, Maya spotted a familiar face among the photographers—Sebastian. He was standing near the edge of the group, looking slightly bewildered. His gaze met Maya’s, and he quickly approached her.
“Maya!” Sebastian called out, his voice filled with concern. “I didn’t know you’d be here. What’s going on?”
