JANUARY 1997
PRESENT...
"Molly?" I say, as I hadn't seen my oldest sister in over seven months. She looked up at me from her shopping cart and grins ear to ear. Still beautiful with her long blonde hair and kiss of freckles on her face.
"Y/N, I haven't seen you in forever!" Molly hugged me tightly around my chest, "You've gotten so big! Can I feel? Do you know what you're having?"
"Sure! And a boy, we're naming him Daniel Bryan Eisner." She feels my tummy and grins, "You're going to be an aunt!" A question was on my mind that I often wondered about my family now. How was everybody and were they okay? She gave me a concerned look like she didn't want to say anything like it wasn't her place, "Is there something on your mind?"
"Uhm yeah... But it's best if we talk about it over coffee or something..." She chews on her bottom lip.
"I don't have to be back until two. I was just picking up a few things we forgot to get when we went." I go ahead and check out even though I forgot to get a few things like bathroom cleaner, cake mix, and body soap. She does, too, and we agree to stop at a Starbucks near my work. I ordered a caramel frap, and she ordered a hot latte. We take a seat in a green booth seat.
"Sooo?" I take a sip of my frap with the ice flowing between my teeth.
"Mom and dad are getting a divorce." What? That couldn't be it at all. They had always been together, just the two of them. My parents were the epiphany of a great marriage in my eyes.
"That can't be right. Why?"
"Mom doesn't like that. Dad kicked you out like that. He said it was impulsive and shitty. She's been trying to get in contact with you, but ya know...Didn't know your address or number or anything." She frowned, I nodded, feeling guilty. She got serious suddenly, "I'm serious when I say this, if you need a place to stay, you can come stay with Russell and I. We live about thirty minutes away from mom's now. I'm sure mom once she gets all the legal stuff sorted out, she'd let you live with her." I smile at the thought but immediately regret it. I feel bad for thinking that was even an option. Sure, I didn't like the apartment or the way Bryan would act sometimes, but it was for the better.
"Thank you, but Bryan and I are fine." She didn't look convinced. She took out a pen and ripped a napkin from the dispenser.
"If you ever need me to come get you, or anything in that matter, take this. Rain, shine, day, night." Molly gives me a kind smile, and I tuck the paper in my pocket. We continued talking about different things, how I was doing, and such. She had been careful not to insult my relationship with Bryan. We part ways shortly after, with a long hug.
I drive back to work, as I had the car today. Wasn't technically legally aloud to drive yet, but I didn't have the time to go get my licenses. All I knew was that I could drive to and from places well enough to not get the attention of a police officer. When I finally get off, I go back to the apartment as quickly as I can. He's there waiting for me, currently in the middle of an episode of 'Men Behaving Badly.'
"Hey babe." Bryan grins to me, getting to his feet, "I made you some spaghetti." He goes over to the stove and makes me a bowl, "How was your day?"
"It was pretty good. I got peed on by this one kid, but ya know it's too be expected working with kids." I chuckle, "So as soon as I eat, I need to take a hot, bubbly bath." I kick my pants off where it had been.
"Speaking of working...uhm, the company I work for, Rugaware...that makes carpet that I work for..." He begins, "They're transferring me over to a different factory... temporarily. Just three days." I frowned, unhappy with the information I was receiving, "Do you think Jennifer could drive you to work those three days or... Or Mindy or somebody?" I had a sudden loss for appetite, "Because I'll need the car."
"What hotel are you going to be at?" I ask, just twirling the spaghetti with my fork.
"...I don't know. Some hotel." He shrugs, "I don't know all the facts... Why aren't you eating? Is there something wrong with it?" He asks, concerned.
"No, I'm just not that hungry. I'm going to go shower now." I hug and kiss him and then go and get my clothes to get ready. He looked annoyed at me but didn't say anything about it.

He asked me not to bother him at work, but I had to. I wouldn't hear him for three days, and calling Rugaware to make sure he was okay wasn't going to kill him. I was just making sure he got there in one piece. I wouldn't know for three days, and being under stress wasn't good for the baby. I went through the phone book and found Rugawares' number for the area he was in. I dialed it, and it began to ring.
"Hello, thank you for calling Rugaware. This is Tammy. How may I serve you today?" A nasally woman answers.
"Hi," I cleared my throat, sounding a tad off, "I was wondering if I could speak to Bryan Eisner."
"One moment, please." She then put me on hold, and elevator music started to play. It took her about two minutes to return to the call, "Ma'am, are you there?"
"Yes?"
"Nobody by the name of Bryan Eisner works here."
