  Stevie's POV

Today was a particularly exciting day. The Devils had a morning practice, and I was tasked with getting some behind-the-scenes shots of the players gearing up for their next big game. It was a different kind of challenge—less about capturing the high-energy moments of the game and more about the intimate, personal aspects of the team's preparation.

I arrived at the rink early and set up my gear in the media area. The rink was still quiet, and I took a moment to soak in the tranquility before the chaos of practice began. It was a brief but cherished pause that gave me a chance to gather my thoughts and get into the right mindset for the day's shoot.

As the players began to trickle in, the atmosphere shifted from calm to lively. Nico Hischier was the first one I saw, and he greeted me with his usual friendly demeanor."Morning, Stevie!" Nico called out, waving me over. "Ready to capture some behind-the-scenes magic today?"

"Absolutely," I replied, grinning as I adjusted my camera. "Let's see if we can catch some good candid moments."

Nico was in high spirits, chatting animatedly with the coaches as he suited up. I snapped a few photos of him, capturing his infectious enthusiasm and the easy camaraderie he shared with the team.

As I was setting up for a new shot, Nico noticed me and ambled over. "Hey, Stevie," he said, his tone more relaxed than usual. "Got a minute?"

"Sure, what's up?" I asked, lowering my camera.

Nico leaned in with a mischievous grin. "I've been thinking about a nickname for you."

I raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Oh really? And what's that?"

Nico chuckled. "How about 'Snapshot'? You're always capturing the perfect moments."

I laughed. "I'll take it. Better than 'Camera Girl,' I suppose."

"Definitely," Nico said, giving me a friendly nudge. "Besides, I think it suits you. You're always in the right place at the right time."

"Thanks, Nico," I said, feeling genuinely touched. "I appreciate it."Nico's expression softened, and he gave me a warm smile. "You know, I'm glad we're already besties."

I grinned. "Yeah, we're practically inseparable now."

Nico laughed. "I guess that makes me the official 'Bestie Coordinator.' If you ever want to hang out or just need a break, just let me know."

"Noted, Bestie Coordinator," I said with a playful salute. "I might take you up on that."

As Nico returned to his pre-practice routine, I continued taking photos of the other players. I made sure to get some good shots of Timo Meier, Curtis Lazar, and Erik Haula as they went through their pre-practice routines. Each player had their own unique way of preparing, and I wanted to capture the variety of personalities within the team.

Jack Hughes walked in shortly after. He looked relaxed and focused, a stark contrast to his earlier, more aloof demeanor. He caught my eye and gave me a casual wave. I raised my camera and snapped a few candid shots of him as he prepared for practice.

"Hey, Stevie," Jack said, coming over with a friendly grin. "How's your morning been?"

"Pretty good," I said, lowering my camera and smiling at him. "Just trying to capture all the behind-the-scenes moments."

Jack chuckled, leaning against the wall with a casual ease. "Well, if you need any tips on looking good in photos, I'm your guy."I laughed. "I'll keep that in mind. I'm sure you have a lot of experience in that department."

"Yeah, you could say that," Jack said with a grin. "But seriously, if you need anything, just ask. I'm around."

"I appreciate that," I said, genuinely touched. "I think I'm good for now, but thanks for the offer."

As the players began to get into their practice routine, I continued to snap photos, capturing their interactions and individual preparations. The atmosphere was charged with focus and camaraderie, and I felt like I was really starting to get a sense of the team's dynamic.

Later that night, I arrived at the restaurant where the team was gathering to celebrate a few birthdays. The atmosphere was lively and relaxed, filled with the sounds of laughter and clinking glasses. I spotted Nico at the front of the room, his easygoing nature making him the center of attention.

"Hey, Nico!" I called out as I approached.

Nico greeted me with his usual warmth. "Hey, Snapshot! Glad you could make it. Come on in and join the fun."

As I settled at the table, I saw Jack sitting across from me. He caught my eye and smiled warmly.

"Hey, Stevie," Jack said, leaning forward slightly. "I'm glad you're here. How's everything?"

"It's been great," I replied, returning his smile. "And thanks for inviting me. It's nice to hang out with everyone outside the rink."

Jack's eyes softened. "Yeah, it's good to see everyone relaxing and having a good time. I've really enjoyed getting to know you better."

I felt a flutter of warmth at his words. "I've enjoyed it too. It's nice to have someone to chat with."

Throughout the evening, Jack and I continued to talk and laugh, finding ourselves deep in conversation about our favorite hobbies and experiences. The connection between us felt natural and easy, and I couldn't help but smile at how effortlessly the conversation flowed.

At one point, Jack leaned in with a playful glint in his eye. "So, Snapshot, what's your verdict on our team's food choices? Any favorites?"

I laughed. "I'm definitely enjoying the appetizers. But I have to say, you've all got some pretty good taste."

Jack's eyes twinkled with mischief. "Glad to hear it. Maybe I should show you some of my favorite spots around town. I've got a few hidden gems you might like."

"Sounds like a plan," I said, my smile widening. "I'm always up for exploring new places."

As the evening drew to a close, Jack walked with me to my car. The cool night air was a refreshing change from the warm, bustling restaurant. We strolled together, our conversation light and easy.

"Thanks for walking me out," I said, glancing at Jack. "It was really nice of you."

"No problem at all," Jack replied, his tone warm. "I'm glad we got to hang out tonight. It's been a lot of fun."

I smiled up at him. "Yeah, it has. I'm looking forward to checking out those hidden gems you mentioned."

Jack's smile grew, and there was a hint of something more in his eyes. "I'm looking forward to it too. And who knows? Maybe we'll discover a few more things we both like."

As I reached my car, Jack gave me a friendly nudge. "Have a great night, Stevie."

"You too, Jack," I said, feeling a genuine connection. "See you soon."

As I drove away, I reflected on the night. The team dinner had been a wonderful opportunity to bond with the players, and Jack's genuine interest and easygoing nature had made the evening even more enjoyable. Nico's playful nickname and the easy camaraderie with Jack had made the night memorable. For now, I was content with the connections I was making and excited about what the rest of the season would bring.
