Chapter 1: A New Beginning
From the moment you could walk, talk, and comprehend the wonders of animated television, *Gravity Falls* was your life. You didn't just watch the show; you lived it. Dipper, Mabel, and even the perpetually grumpy Stan Pines felt like family. Your room had the posters, the plushies, the mystery shack models—all the typical fan stuff. But your pride and joy? The journals. You were one of the lucky ones who got the first, second, and third journals as soon as they came out. And when the *Book of Bill* was released, it was like someone had rekindled the dying embers of a forgotten love.
You weren't just in the fandom; you *were* the fandom. Every morning, before dragging yourself to school, you'd be glued to *thisisnotawebsitedotcom.com*, a website straight out of a Gravity Falls episode. You'd mess around with the codes, solve puzzles, and exchange conspiracy theories with like-minded fans. But today, as you mindlessly scrolled through another fan theory about how Bill Cipher was secretly Ford's evil twin (a theory you didn't buy for a second), you had a sense that something was different.
You were halfway through a bowl of cereal when your mom's voice drifted up from the kitchen.
"Y/N, come downstairs! Your dad and I need to talk to you."
The tone made your cereal turn to cardboard in your mouth. You knew that tone. That was the tone that preceded bad news. Maybe they were going to tell you that your dog ran away, or worse, that your Wi-Fi would be cut off for a week. The possibilities were endless and equally horrifying.
Dragging your feet like they weighed a ton, you walked downstairs. Your parents were sitting at the kitchen table, hands folded in front of them in that weirdly serious way that made you instantly suspicious. You took a seat across from them, eyeing them warily.
"What's up? Did I break the internet or something?" You joked, trying to ease the tension.
Your dad cleared his throat, glancing at your mom. "Y/N, there's something important we need to tell you."
Your heart dropped. The jokes were doing nothing to lighten the mood. "Okay... what is it?"
Your mom took a deep breath. "You're not going to school today."
You blinked. "What? Did the building burn down? Please tell me it burned down."
Your parents exchanged a look, and your dad chuckled softly. "No, the school's fine. But... we're moving."
Silence. You felt like the floor had dropped out from under you. Moving? You'd just gotten comfortable. You had friends, a routine, and, most importantly, decent Wi-Fi. Moving was the last thing you wanted to hear.
"But why? We've been here forever!" You protested, trying to keep your voice steady.
Your mom reached out, patting your hand. "Your dad got a new job offer, and it's a great opportunity for him. We wouldn't make this decision lightly."
You slumped back in your chair, arms crossed. "Where are we moving? If you say somewhere like Kansas, I might actually lose it."
Your dad smiled. "Oregon."
It took a second for that to register. Oregon. Oregon. The word echoed in your mind, and then it clicked. Oregon, the land of mysterious forests, eerie legends, and *Gravity Falls*. You jumped out of your seat, a scream tearing from your throat that could probably wake the dead.
"OREGON?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?!" You shouted, practically vibrating with excitement.
Your parents flinched at the volume, covering their ears. "Yes, Oregon! Jeez, Y/N, take it down a notch," your dad said, laughing.
You ignored him, too busy pacing around the kitchen, chanting, "Oregon, Oregon, Oregon!" like it was some sort of sacred mantra. You spun around to face your parents, eyes wide with excitement. "Do you guys even realize what this means?! Oregon is where *Gravity Falls* takes place! That's like, the ultimate fan pilgrimage! I could find the Bill Cipher statue! I could explore the woods where all the weird stuff happens! Oh my god, this is insane!"
Your parents exchanged another look, this one more amused than anything else. "We didn't know you liked Oregon that much," your mom said, raising an eyebrow.
"*Liked*?!" You practically shrieked. "I'm obsessed! Oregon is like the Mecca for Gravity Falls fans. This is fate, destiny, the universe aligning for my ultimate fan journey!"
Your dad chuckled again. "Well, we're glad you're not upset. We were worried you'd be angry about leaving your friends behind."
You waved off his concern. "Psh, friends? I can make new ones. But Oregon? That's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!"
Your mom sighed, clearly relieved that you weren't throwing a tantrum. "Well, if you're that excited, I guess we made the right choice."
"Absolutely! When do we leave? Tomorrow? Tonight? Right now?!" You were ready to pack your bags and head out the door at that very moment.
Your dad laughed. "Not so fast, kiddo. We're moving in the next two to three days. We still have to pack, arrange the movers, and handle all the logistics."
Your excitement deflated slightly. "Two to three days? That's forever!" you groaned, flopping back into your chair dramatically. But then you perked up. "Okay, fine. That gives me time to plan my Gravity Falls exploration itinerary."
Your mom smiled, clearly amused by your antics. "Just make sure you actually pack your things, okay?"
"Yeah, yeah, I got it," you said, waving her off as you mentally started listing all the Gravity Falls landmarks you were going to visit.
The next few days were a blur of packing, organizing, and obsessively checking Oregon's weather forecast. You were like a whirlwind of energy, barely sleeping as you stuffed your belongings into boxes, making sure to leave out your *Gravity Falls* journals for easy access. They were coming with you in the car, no question.
Your parents watched you with a mixture of amusement and mild concern. At one point, your mom even asked, "Are you sure you're okay with this move? You seem a little... hyper."
"Hyper? Me? Never," you replied with a wink. "I'm just excited, that's all."
The truth was, you were more than excited. You were practically buzzing with anticipation. Moving to Oregon felt like a dream come true, like some cosmic force had finally answered your unspoken wish. You had no idea what awaited you in those misty, mysterious woods, but one thing was for sure—you were going to find out.
And so, with your bags packed and your heart racing, you prepared to leave behind everything you knew for the unknown wonders of Oregon. Whatever happened next, you were ready.
Because this wasn't just a move; this was the beginning of your very own Gravity Falls adventure.
