I thought it would be easy for me to get over him if I shift my attention to someone else.
But I guess, I'm always wrong. Maybe because the more that I try to deny that my feelings are gone, the more that it grows fonder.
They are not together they say... but Elijah is courting her. They soon announced it to the family and although it was quite of a shock to Mommy, she accepted him wholeheartedly. I guess they always knew that Mistize and Elijah would end up together.
I was in my last year of Senior High and tried not to think about it too much. Totoo naman ang sabi ni Troy, Elijah is not the only guy in this world. Marami sila.
"Mexican, later?" aya sa akin ni Tria nang nakangiti.
I sighed. "I can't, family dinner. Kasama si Elijah."
Umawang ang labi niya. "Again? Parang napapadalas ata pagsama ni Elijah sa dinners niyo. I get he's your sister's boyfriend—"
I shook my head. "Not yet, Mistize told me they are not yet together. Ewan ko sa kanila."
Ngumuso siya. "So, a no label relationship, huh? That's tough. Considering he's pretty much a part of the family, already."
I nodded. Ligaw. Only.
She had her arm clinging to Lia, kumaway naman sila parehas. We waved back at them as they made their way to the library.
"Do you think Elisse knows? That her brother is seeing your sister?" Tria asked.
I shook my head. "I don't think so. They don't want anyone to know about them. Elijah just wanted to formally court her kaya sinabi nila kina Mommy. Pero ang alam ko, alam na ni Kuya Drake."
"Drake, huh? I see him around the house, palagi. Santi told me he's still in the moving on stage. I don't think it's with Ate Mistize, since they hang out sometimes. Plus, I never seen him with another girl?" Tria shrugged.
Ngumuso ako at bumuntong-hininga nalang. As much as I want to eat dinner with Tria, I know Mommy wouldn't like it if I skipped today's dinner.
Sinubukan ko naman kalimutan ang feelings ko para kay Elijah, but it's difficult, considering he's like family already. I always see him.
Everyone in my family knows that I like Prince. At least, that's what I tell them. And Elijah is four years older than me... kaya malabo. Malabong-malabo talaga.
I heard a knock on my door, while I was preparing. He grinned and handed me a box.
"What's this for? A tiffany, hmm?" I accepted the box. I opened it and saw a silver bangle. It was the bangle that I had been eyeing for months.
"Advance birthday gift. Hindi ako makakapunta sa debut mo, sorry. I have overseas schedule during that week..." he tapped my shoulder. "I sent someone else though to replace me sa Eighteen roses mo."
I groaned. "I told you, ayoko nga ng formal debut event! Can you please convince Mommy?"
Rush chuckled. "You managed to convince her to make it a smaller event, basta andun pa rin ang eighteen roses, candles and all that shit." he pinched my cheeks. "You only turn eighteen once, Miriella. Malay mo makasayaw mo, crush mo?"
