Lily POV

I snapped out of my shocked state and step aside, "Please come in." I said gesturing at Eloise to come inside.

"Thank you." Eloise muttered as she walked inside.

I closed the door and turned around.

"Again, sorry for showing here without notice but I had to leave the ton, but I didn't know where to go then I remembered the letter you send me, so I told my footman to take me here." Eloise urgently explained and began to ramble again.

"No need to apologize, Eloise." I assured cutting her off from rambling again.

"I am not mad that you are here since like you said I did invite you to come visit. But what happened that made you want to leave home so badly?" I asked curious what could've been so bad that led to her wanting to leave home at night without her writing to me that she'll come visit so I could send her escort to bring her here.

Eloise didn't answer avoiding eye contact and looked at the floor.

Seeing the discomfort coming from Eloise, "It is fine you do not have to tell me what happened but if you do wish to then know I am here to listen and help in any way I can."

"Thank you." Eloise said.

"Let me show you to the guest room and then I will give you comfortable clothes to wear for bed. I'm sure you want to get out of the dress. I remember you telling me how much you despise wearing dresses. I said as we walked upstairs to the guest room, I remembered Eloise mentioning in the letters how uncomfortable she felt wearing dresses.

"You remembered?" Eloise asked sounding surprised I stopped in front of the guest room door and turn around to face her, "Of course I remembered just like I remembered how you never understood the fashion for feathers in the hair. I believe your exact words were why would a woman want to draw notice to the fact that she is like a bird squawking for a man's attention in some bizarre ritual." I said quoting Eloise exact words making her laugh.

I smile feeling happy that she no longer sad, and I made her laugh the two of us stand in front of the door.

"I cannot believe you remember." Eloise said once she has calmed down, "Of course I'll remember what you wrote." I told her and we stared at each other with smiles on our faces.

Eloise clears her throat, and I look away in embarrassment I can feel my cheeks heat up.

"You can go in I'll be back with some clothes for you to change into." I tell her before walking away to get her some clothes.

Eloise POV

I walked in and looked around the room, which was big with a large bed, desk, mirror, couch, chair, and drawers. The walls were painted light blue with few paintings hung on the wall.

I hear footsteps coming this way and turn around to see Lily coming in with clothes in her hands.

"Here is a nightgown for you to wear, I unfortunately do not have any extra clothes of mine for you to wear tomorrow for they are washing so you'll have to wear clothes that belong to my brother in law that he leaves behind whenever he comes to visit. The clothes are big but once my clothes are clean I will let you wear them until we buy you new clothes to wear." Lily tells me as she hands me the clothes are hands briefly touching and for an instant I feel a spark I look up to see her smiling at me again making my stomach feel funny.

"Thank you." I said appreciating Lily welcoming me in.

"No need to thank me, El-"

"No, I should be thanking you. You're letting me stay when you could've send me away." I told her, "Well I didn't because I care for you, and I would not be able to forgive myself if I left you there alone with no place to go too and no one to take you home. Now I'll shall leave you rest. I'm sure you had a long, tiring day."
