She was able to make it to dinner- although she may have been cutting it close. She truly was at a loss for words after her encounter with Sebastian- she had asked if they could meet after dinner to talk. He put on a bit of a show acting all annoyed, but eventually agreed that he could wait. It was for the best, hopefully she'd find Ominis on the way to dinner and they could all plan to talk in the undercroft- better just telling the story once than twice.
Together the two of them walked to dinner, and Jane used the time to ask him about his musical abilities. Apparently both he and Anne had grown up learning the Piano from their mom, but only Sebastian had continued it after they had lost her. He took his music class with Ominis (and Garreth) and was the accompanist for the choir. She asked if Ominis ever played in class as well, but he straight up ignored the question and switched the topic to something else.
As the fates would have it, they did catch Ominis making his way out of the great hall just as they were going in. Jane ran over to him, not accompanied by Sebastian, and asked if he'd be willing to meet to talk. He agreed, although hesitantly when she mentioned that the other Slytherin would be there.
"But hey- I made it to another meal! All thanks to you I might add." She smiled brightly at him, hoping that maybe he would feel her gratitude.
"It's still a little sad you even needed help to make it to meals- but I'm glad that it's working out for you." His usual straight face turned into the tiniest smile, and Jane wished she had a camera. Damn how could so little emotion be so terribly attractive.
Without either of the boys conversing with each other, they set up to meet together after dinner. It was a bit awkward, hopefully not a sign of what tonight would bring. They said goodbye, and she started moving forward, Sebastian by her side again.
"Are you going to come sit with me tonight?" He asked, his mouth so close to her ear that his breath made her shiver a little. She swatted him away, cheeks redding as he chuckled.
"Honestly I would love to, but I already promised to sit with Garreth-" she waved at the boy who had made a show of standing to get her attention again. Ugh cute puppy.
"Ah that's right, your puppy. You haven't let him lick you have you?"
"Haven't what??" She snapped her head to the side to look at him. "What the hell is that supposed to mean??" Was that supposed to be him asking if she had kissed him? But like licking because she referred to him as a dog? The fuck Sebastian.
The boy just shrugged his shoulders and gave her a wink. Then he moved away before she could let out the barrage of punches that she wanted to hurl his way. Stupid fucking boy. She stopped towards her own table, feeling annoyed and confused as hell.
She forced herself to not look at Garreth in hopes that images of his tongue doing... things to her would stay at bay. She could tell he was trying to get her attention, but there was no way she was letting those thoughts into her brain.
As she started talking with the other two girls seated by her, it became easy enough to forget. Poppy it seemed had taken refuge at their table for a time, and Jane couldn't be more excited. There were a few times some older or younger students sent looks her way, but Jane caught their eyes so fast with what she assumed was quite the glare by how quickly they turned back.
Garreth, Natty, Poppy and her were all chatting together happily. It really felt like quite an ideal friend group. This was a really upbeat group of people she had gathered together. They joked and laughed at a myriad of different things.
The girls told her stories about Garreth in their previous school years that made Jane bust up and Garreth turn red. Her favorite was in their third year when he attempted to make a polyjuice potion and ended up only changing half of Leander's face when he tested it. He was trying to change him into Everett Clopton, so for a few hours Leander was stuck with half red hair half brown- and one eye with horrible vision.
