08/04/4099, Forsythia, Kingdom of Spring:

Sitting at a long wooden table, the three residents of the Rose Pavilion were having their lunches with the other students of the institution. In the large room with rounded stone walls, sounds resonated. Through the voices resounded the discreet clicking of heels against the cold floor. A woman was crossing the noisy dining room, towards a table off to the side. She was dressed in a suit top and a long, straight striped skirt that barely touched the floor. Her brown hair was pulled up into a tight bun. Nothing on her face expressed gentleness or compassion. The tall woman with the stern look stopped at Zephirine's height, under the curious gaze of the students around her.

-Miss Heisenberg. Her voice was icy, so much so that the hairs on the young girl's arms stood on end. Without knowing why, she felt an obligation to get up from the table and greet the lifeless woman perched above her. The beautiful blonde held out her thin hand towards the mysterious woman, however the tall woman did not grab it and ignored it.
-You have to come with me. The woman concluded as she left the room as elegantly as when she had entered it. Only this time she was followed by Zephirine. The young girl was not able to follow the woman at the pace she was walking but did her best because something deep down told her that it was better not to make her angry. The blond-haired child chased the woman through the long, lifeless corridors of her school without ever asking a question. Yet there were so many that burned her lips. The woman quickly went down the large stone staircase that led into the administration corridor before finally stopping in front of a door that Zephirine knew well. Mr. Du Frai's office. The woman knocked three times on the door before opening it a crack and letting the worried young girl in. Zephirine sat down in front of the director's desk with a worried look. The woman stood upright next to the tall man.
-Miss Heisenberg, I am Mrs. Saxe, director of the investigation concerned with the disappearance and then the mysterious death of Miss Ermington. I was told that you were the person closest to this poor Wendy. So let me explain the reason for my visit and our sudden meeting. I also am a detective just like Mr. Martin, only I am really going to find out what happened that infamous night, on January 5 to 6. If you allow me, I will now ask you a few questions. Let's begin. The woman sat down delicately on Mr. Du Frai's precious desk while smiling victoriously. Zephirine felt her heart beating in her temples. She only wanted to leave this room. However, she did not move and remained seated on her chair.
-I read in your file that during your very first interrogation you ignored the detectives who questioned you, is that true?
Zephirine knew that all the questions that would follow would only be in order to provoke her memories and try to find an inconsistency.
-True.
-During your most recent interview with the detectives, you claimed to have survived your friendship, is that true?
-True.
-That same day you implied that your dear friend Wendy Ermington had the bad habit of putting herself in danger, is that true?
-True.
-Then my question would be, how would Miss Wendy Ermington have put herself in danger?
-With the adrenaline of life.
-Answer my question, please.
-By breaking the rules.
-You knew about it and you never said anything?
-Yes.
-Could you tell me exactly what happened that night in the smallest detail?
-Yes, she wanted to go out dancing, Wendy loved to dance. So we escaped through the balcony window and went to the city. But once in front of the place of the festivities I no longer felt able to enter it...
-What was this place?
-An unsanitary place in the city, it had large windows and signs on some. The light was low and the women were dancing there while the men smoked.
-Did Wendy come back?
-Yes, I came back on foot. I should never have left her there, maybe if I had stayed with her, nothing would have happened to her. Zephirine looked down at her hands.
-Miss Heisenberg, did you see your roommate again that night?
-No. Zephirine felt her breathing become difficult.
She only moved when the woman made her leave the room in order to finish contemplating the details given by the young girl. She met the director of the establishment. From the other side of the door the child with a heavy heart could hear the voices of Mr. Du Frai and Mrs. Saxe discussing her. The young girl with the worried look left the dark corridor without looking back.
