lunchtime! the sun was high, the grass was green. you could hear birds chirping. you could also hear you and your friend laughing.

"i'm gonna see how long it takes him to notice." you snickered.

"okay, report back to me when you're done." your friend grinned.

you saluted to your friend before walking over to hinata and kageyama, who were practicing volleyball.

"hey hinata!"

"hi y/n!!" hinata shouted while receiving the ball.

"can you get something from the vending machine with me?" you asked. kageyama held the ball so hinata could talk to you.

"sure!!" hinata smiled at you, then went back to his ready stance for receiving. "oh wait," he stood up. "i have to practice volleyball with kageyama so we can get really good and go to nationals." he frowned. "sorry." he went back to practicing with kageyama.

you deadpanned. did your boyfriend just reject you so he could play volleyball? yes. yes he did. (get rekt)

"sorry kageyama. gonna have to steal this one right now." you said as you grabbed hinata's arm and dragged him to the vending machine with you.

kageyama stood there, a little lost.

"you literally have practice later today, hinata. take a little break, don't overwork yourself. tell that to kageyama, too."

"sorry y/n! don't be mad!!" hinata barked.

"i'm not mad," you giggled. "what do you want from the vending machine?"

"your gonna pay for me?!" he asked. you could practically see the sparkles in his eyes.

"course! i know your broke."

"thank you y/n!!" he cried. "i'll have a lime soda!"

you giggled at his loudness. you gave him his soda after putting the money in the machine for both of your drinks.

he started drinking his soda as soon as you gave it to him, but you held your drink and stared at him.

it wasn't until after a few sips when he noticed you were staring at him.

"what's wrong? did you get the wrong drink?" he wondered.

"nope."

"why are you staring at me?"

"no reason."

he furrowed his eyebrows and stared back at you.

...

...

...

"my eyes hurt!" he cried. you burst out laughing.

"okay, okay, go back to practice, volleyball boy." you kissed him on the cheek before walking back to your friend.

"he didn't even notice!" you snickered.

"no way, seriously?" your friend had a fit of laughter.

"seriously!" you laughed as hard as your friend did, and since you guys were laughing so hard you laughed even harder.

—4 days later—

lunchtime! the sun was high, the grass was green. you could hear squirrel chittering. you could also hear you and your friend talking.

"it's been a whole week and he hasn't noticed. maybe he just doesn't pay attention to you that much." your friend stated.

"w-whaa?? yes he does! he's just not the type to notice details...plus, he's very focused on volleyball!" you replied.

"yeah, too focused on volleyball. so much so that he doesn't pay attention to you."

"psshh, you're crazy. he pays just the right amount of attention to me."

"oh yeah? when's the last time he complimented you?"

"..."

"that's what i thought."

"i'm thinking!"

"well, if you have to think about it that hard, doesn't that say something to you?"

"whateverr." you brushed it off, getting up from the lunch tables to walk to your classroom.

you were gonna prove to your friend (more to yourself) that he does pay attention to you.

noon! the sun was high, the grass was green. you could hear little kids screaming at the playground. you could also hear you and your boyfriends steps.

you and hinata were walking hand in hand at the park since you wanted to hang out with him on the weekend.

"so, hinata. do you really not notice anything different about me?"

he looked at you. "no? was i supposed to?"

you stopped walking, making him stop too. "yes! you were!" you pouted.

"what?" he questioned. you pointed to your nose.

"huh? your nose piercing?"

"yes!"

"what about it?"

you sighed. "i changed the color!"

he blinked at you.

...

"oh! it's pink now!"

"yeah!"

"sorry for not noticing..." he frowned. you playfully sighed, then giggled.

"don't worry, it's not a big deal. i think my friend made it seem like a big deal to me when it actually wasn't."

"eh?"

"well, my friend said that your too focused on volleyball, and don't pay enough to me. but i disagree! i love how passionate you are about volleyball, and we always hangout on the weekends, so i get enough attention. my friends just over analyzing our relationship because she doesn't have one herself.

"damn y/n. little harsh on your friend."

"that's what she gets for doubting you." you said, smiling at him. he smiled back. "oh! let's take a picture."

"ok!" he agreed. you took out your phone, snapping a picture of him kissing your cheek and you grinning.

you send the photo to your friend, where she replied with "whatever."

you then put phone away for the rest of the evening as you happily walked through the park, holding hands with shoyo.
lunchtime! the sun was high, the grass was green. you could hear birds chirping. you could also hear you and your friend laughing.
