BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS UNIT MAIN OFFICE - DAY-

Morgan is reading a newspaper at his desk. Spencer removes a black piece from a chess board. Gideon moves a white piece. Brianna Watches them play as she leans on her desk. "Check. Checkmate 3 moves." Gideon says with a smirk.

Spencer looks down at the board. "What...?" He looks so Bamboozled. It's adorable- wait what? Morgan Chuckles and looks up from his newspaper, "You know you'll beat him when you start learning." He says with a laugh. Spencer turns to him and raises a brow. "Learning what?" I laugh softly "To think outside the box Spence."

Spencer and Morgan turn their attention to their computer screens. Elle walks down the stairs to the main floor and heads towards Morgan. "Question for you." Elle walks up to him. "Shoot." Morgan gestures. "The Footpath Killer, why did he stutter?" Elle asks, I laugh. We've all tried. At this point I'm gonna call Mama and Daddy. "Come on, Elle, we've all asked him, and he won't say." Morgan sets his newspaper down. Spencer turns around with a shrug. "He wants us to figure it out."

"Like I told Spence less than ten minutes ago, We have to think outside of the box." I smile as I pick up a deck of cards, it's a fidgety type thing. ADHD, Thanks Mom. I take the cards out and start shuffling.

"OK. I'm up for a challenge"

"Good, because these go to you." J.J. drops a stack of files on Elle's desk. J.J. extends a hand toward Elle. "Special Agent Jennifer Jareau. J.J. if you like." Elle and J.J. shake hands. "Elle."

J.J. smiles kindly. "Greenaway-- highest number of solved cases in Seattle 3 years running, specialty in sex offender cases."

"Not bad." Elle walks up the stairs as J.J. speaks. "Well, I'm the unit liaison. My specialty is untangling bureaucratic knots. You'll probably be talking to me a lot. My door's always open, mostly because I'm never in my office, so just call me on my cell, OK? We'll talk." Hotch exits his office and walks past J.J. "Did you watch it?"

"Yeah. Think everybody should see it." Hotch keeps walking along the mezzanine. He is holding a disk of some kind. "B.A.U. team, can you meet me in the conference room, please? I need to show you something."

CONFERENCE ROOM - DAY-

Hotch, and the rest of the B.A.U. sit around a table. There is a screen mounted on the wall behind Hotch. "This is from the Phoenix office. Bradshaw College in Tempe. 6 fires in 7 months."

"Who recorded it?" Gideon crosses his arms, "A student with a digital camcorder. He was watching a fire in the building across from their dorm. The other person you'll see is his roommate, 20-year-old Matthew Rowland." J.J. says as she uses the remote. A video begins playing on the screen. A window glowing with smoke.

"This is crazy. Hey, Matt, get over here. You gotta see this. The building's on fire." Sometimes I forget how stupid Kids My age are. And I'm 23. Why record when you can at least call 911? College Kids. "Bro, you getting this?" A man comes into focus as a reflection in the window in the video. "Is that the kid?" Gideon nods at the screen.

"Yeah, that's him." Hotch nods, "Relax, man. There's always fires during rush week." Like that makes this situation better. On the screen, MATTHEW walks toward the dorm room's door and peers under it. "Yeah, but that's pretty big." "What building is that?"

"Dude, over here. Check this out." There is a puddle of liquid beneath the door. "What is it?"

"I don't know, but it's coming underneath the door."

"Is someone in the hallway?" The door knob turns. "Hey, someone's trying to get in." A liquid splashes under the door, into the room. "Hey, man, you should get in there."
