Part One: An Overview

After reading this, you're probably wondering what is going on. Who Connor is. What happened between us. All the little details that only matter in a love story. Ours was different though. Connor was my everything and he was the person who created a new sense of identity for me and established a purpose for me in a world that hated me for who I was as a person. He was my inspiration and my reason to keep fighting. And even though we are over and my life is different, he always will be.

Before anything else, my name is Troye Sivan and I am from Perth, Australia and I am a Youtuber. I met Connor through my best friend, Tyler Oakley at a convention in L.A. Connor was on the same panel as Tyler and I at this convention, talking about our experiences of growing up as homosexual and our influences and tips for teenagers. And before you ask, yes. I am gay. And it's been a long journey for me to accept this fact and Tyler has been a source of strength in helping me establish strong foundations. Up until I met Connor, I believed that no one would want a gay Aussie boy and that I would be fighting in this world alone forever. Seeing Connor melted all of these fears away and I knew that this was the moment I had been waiting for. He made me happy from the moment he introduced himself and I owe a lot to Tyler for helping me with Connor. I remember like it was yesterday.

He walked up to both Tyler and I and he introduced himself with a toothy grin as Connor Franta. Tyler hugged Connor before introducing me and as Connor smiled at me, my heart began to melt and my words became twisted. I managed to stammer that I was Troye Sivan but because I was over whelmed by the nerves of meeting Connor, the words came out as Sroye Tivan instead and he laugh with me. Tyler introduced me properly before winking at me. After this, we were asked to the panel and I managed to walk onto the stage without falling over or doing anything embarrassing. After the panel, Connor handed me a piece of paper with his address and that's what changed everything. What followed changed me into the person who sits writing this today. Those letters were the way we both expressed our dark and personal fears and a part of me wishes that Connor and I hadn't met so none of it could have happen but most of me sees it as a growing experience.
