After getting dressed and packing up, the two hurried back to the cabin. "Okay," Wendy declared as they entered. "You go get a quick shower while I take care of the unpacking. I'm gonna lay out what I want you to wear, too. Then you can take care of the trash while I take my shower."
"Sure thing—Um, Wendy? Where do we put the trash?"
"There's a can out on the side of the house. Just make sure you put the lid on firmly, so no critters get into it. We'll take it out to the main road for collection on Monday. Now, go get your shower, dude!"
Wendy immediately began emptying the backpack. She tossed the trash into the bin, and threw the towels and blanket in the laundry basket, and poked her head in on Dipper as she put away the sunscreen.
"Hey!"
"Hey, there, Dip," she giggled.
"Join me?" he offered, his head full of shampoo suds.
"Another time, maybe. Hurry up so I can get mine in!" She ran out before Dipper could suggest that showering together would save time, because she knew that if they did shower together, they would, in fact, take a lot longer to get clean- If they ever got around to it
Let's see...Dipper already has black pants, Wendy thought to herself. I'm going to have to lend him one of my black tee shirts...and, I think, my red and black plaid overshirt. She selected her items and laid them out on the bed for him. Now for my own outfit, she thought. Wendy pulled out a pair of black jeans a matching tee, and her favorite green and black plaid overshirt from her bureau. She folded them neatly and waited impatiently for Dipper to finish his shower.
Soon, the water stopped, and Dipper exited.
"About time!" Wendy cried, practically running into the bathroom. "I left your clothes out on the bed," she called. "Get dressed; I'll be out soon!"
Well, whatever Wendy's got planned for tonight at Skull Fracture, she's certainly excited about it. Dipper thought to himself as he got dressed. After he dressed, he took all the trash he could find in the cabin and put it in the trashcan outside, remembering to firmly close the lid. By the time he went back in, Wendy was already out of the shower and getting dressed. When she finished, she pulled Dipper over to the mirror so she could see how they looked together. They were dressed identically, but for the colors of their plaid shirts.
"Wait," Wendy suddenly remembered. "Hats!"
She ran to the coat rack and got their head gear. She tossed Dipper's hat to him, as she put on her trucker's cap with the blue pine tree on it.
Dipper smiled. "I'm glad you still wear that hat, "Dipper said.
"Wouldn't be caught without it," Wendy said, giving him a peck on the cheek. "It's my lucky hat."
"Lucky? Why is it lucky?"
"Cos I was lucky to find you under it four years ago."
Dipper hugged Wendy. "Your hat's been my most treasured possession in the past four years," he said, as he removed his trapper's hat and fondled it, remembering the day they had swapped. Wendy giggled. She pulled them back into the mirror's frame for a last look. "Put it back on," she told him. He obeyed, as they stood side by side.
"Perfect," she declared. Dipper chuckled. "Mabel would definitely squeal over us if she could see right now," he said.
"Well, we're just that cute together, dude," Wendy answered. She checked to make sure she had her wallet and keys.
