The girl sat quietly at the dinner table, her fingers nervously tracing the edge of her glass as she listened to the laughter around her. The people she had just met were animated, cracking jokes and sharing stories with an ease that made her feel like an outsider looking in. Their laughter rang out, filling the room with warmth, but she couldn't help the knot of anxiety tightening in her chest. She forced a small smile, nodding along as if she understood the humor, even though the jokes felt like they were happening in a language she barely understood.  The room seemed to pulse with a life that she hadn't yet found her place in, leaving her feeling both comforted by their presence and isolated by her own insecurities.

"Now we're all settled in and sorted, I'd like to make an announcement. This castle will not only be your home this year but home to some very special guests as well. You see Hogwarts has been choosen..." She watched the podium as Dumbledore spoke. She raised an eyebrow as a man limped down the aisle headed to the podium.

"Is this normal?" She whispered to Theo who was sitting next to her. He shrugged smiling.

"You would be surprised" He laughed.

"So Hogwarts has been choosen to host a legendary event. The Tri-Wizard tournament. Now for those of you who do not know, the tri-wizard tournament brings together three schools for a series of magical contests. From each school a single contestant is selected to compete. Now let me be clear, if choosen you stand alone. And trust me when I say these contests are not for the faint hearted, but more of that later. For now please join me in welcoming the lovely ladies of the Beauxbatons Academy of magic and their headmistress Madam Maxime." Dumbledore announced.

A group of girls dressed in blue dance up the aisle and release butterflies into the air. They bow and everyone applauds. The boys at the table stood up clapping and whistling. Esme scrunched her nose in disgust.

"And now our friends from the north, please greet the proud sons of Durmstrang and the high master Igor Karkaroff." Dumbledore finished.

A series of older boys walk up the aisle brandishing bo staffs, twirling them around periodically stabbing them into the ground with a spark effect. Esme let out a laugh at how funny the boys look.

"Draco, do you see who just walked in. I think i'm hallucinating" Blaise said smacking Draco.

"I see. I see!" he hissed. A few Dumstrang boys sat at the end of the Slytherin table and smiled to her. She was considered gorgeous to all.

The girl has a delicate, almost ethereal beauty. Her skin is fair, with a soft, porcelain-like quality that contrasts with the slight flush on her cheeks. Her eyes are a striking shade of deep green, framed by long, dark lashes that curl naturally. They hold a certain depth, a quiet intelligence that hints at thoughts she doesn't often voice. Her hair is a cascade of chestnut waves, falling down to her waist, catching the light with hints of auburn when she moves. She has a slender build, her posture graceful but relaxed, giving her an air of quiet confidence. Her lips are naturally rosy, full but not overly so, and they often curve into a gentle, thoughtful smile.

There's an understated elegance to the way she carries herself, as if she's effortlessly in tune with her surroundings. Her overall appearance is one of quiet charm, a blend of classic beauty and modern grace.

She gave a small wave and pushed her food around on her plate, putting her fork down when Dumbledore began to speak again.

"Your attention please! I would like to say a few words. Eternal glory, that is what awaits the student who wins the tri-wizard tournament. But to do this that student must survive three tasks. Three extremely dangerous tasks." Dumbledore spoke and Draco and Blaise started pushing each other.

"For this reason the ministry has seen fit to impose a new rule. To explain all this we have the head of the department of international magic cooperation Mister Bartimus Crouch and head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports Mister Evan Rosier" He finished. Esme's eye's widened at the sight of her father. He didn't mention he would be here this year did he? Certainly she would have remembered that. Thunder roars overhead, rain begins leaking through the roof and screams break out. A strange man stands in the doorway. Esme wraps her arms around herself feeling a cold draft hit her.

"That's Mad-Eye Moody" Mattheo whisper yelled to the group. "He's supposed to be absolutely mad" Mattheo finished.

"Alcoholic is he too?" Esme giggled to her new friends. Draco looked at her with a small smile. Esme zoned out for the rest of dinner not paying attention to her friends standing up getting ready to leave.

"Rosier you coming?" Draco asked her. She looked up at him and nodded standing up, she walked out of the great hall with the group. She took it all in as they laughed and joked about who knows what.

"I can show you around tomorrow. You wont get your timetable until tomorrow morning. We'll look it over and go through it. I can show you from class to class." Draco said straying back with her. She looked up at him and smiled.

"I appreciate that" She said and he gave her a smile. They all ended up in the dungeons and stopped in front of a portrait.

"The passcode this year is Pureblood "  Theo said to her. "The password is given to us at the end of the year"  He said to her. The portrait opened and she stepped through with a gasp looking around. It was gorgeous, the emerald green decorations and not to mention how the common room is underwater. The waves of the water hitting the windows instantly calmed her nerves.

"Here, let me bring you to your dorm" Theo said and headed up the stairs. They walked down the hall and stopped in front of a door. He knocked three times and Esme stood there awkwardly waiting for the door to open.

"What!" The girl pulled the door open fast. She stood there in a baggy shirt and shorts.

"What do you want Nott?" She sweetly asked. "Your new roommate. Miss Rosier. Goodnight you two" He said then walked away.

"Oh sick! Get in here!" She said pulling Esme into the dorm room.

"I'm Ophelia Burke. You're a Rosier?" She asked as she sat on her bed.

"Yes. I'm Esmeralda but you can call me Esme. I prefer it" Esme said with a smile.

"That's perfect! Oh my gosh we're going to be great friends. I haven't had a roommate in a few years. Pansy was my first roommate but that didn't end well" Ophelia said with a shiver. Esme laughed and changed into her pajamas.

"Goodnight Esme" Ophelia said turning off the light. Esme laid there staring up at the celling thinking about what's happened the past few hours.

'Stay nice. Stick to yourself' She thought to herself as she fell asleep.
