My name is Vivienne, I am 28 and a half years old. And this is how I died.

I walked off the plane and through the airport without stopping once. I got to the curb before I paused. This was my life now. I would get in a cab that would take me to the campus, where I would spend the next four years getting my bachelor's degree.

I pulled my phone out of my pocket and called Uber. I sat on the nearby bench for five minutes before the car pulled up. I don't know whether to feel excited or scared. I've been waiting for this moment my whole life, the day I go to college. I thought it would make me an adult; I thought that I would be grown up when I left home. I guess it just made me a scared eighteen-year-old girl. When the car pulled up I snapped out of my thoughts and loaded my bags into the trunk.

I stood in the doorway of what was to be my home for the rest of the school year. I dropped my bags and set to work on getting unpacked. I dropped my bags and set to work on getting unpacked. I had finished making the bed and setting my books and other stationery items on the small desk, and now I was putting my clothes in the small dresser when my roommate arrived. I tucked the last shirt into the dresser and stood up to greet her.  I saw her moving her bags into the doorway when she turned around. she had long black hair that fell to about her waist. She looked to be at least 5'2. She had dark eyes and sharp facial features. She had a rich tan from the summer.

"Hey, I'm Vivienne," I said to her. "Hi! My name is Kiara! it is so nice to meet you!" she exclaimed, taking my hand and vigorously shaking it. She seemed like a girl who probably did sheer in high school, she had this overwhelming sense of peppy-ness. "It's nice to meet you too, but if you don't mind, I'm going to go finish unpacking and then go tour the campus," I told her, removing my hand from her surprisingly strong grip. "Oh yeah, go ahead don't let me interrupt you!" she beamed at me. She then turned and went back to moving her bags into the dorm again.

I finished my tour of the campus about two hours later. I was now sitting in a small Starbucks that was across the street from the school. I placed my book on the table and began to read. I looked up to take a sip of my coffee and glanced at a tall dark dark-haired figure entering. He wore a polo shirt and dress pants, a little formal for just getting a drink to be honest. He had piercing brown eyes that narrowed slowly as he took in the new environment. As his gaze slid over to when I was sitting, I napped my head back to my book. After he had placed his order and sat down at the table directly in front of mine, I made note of his every movement. All of them came to him gracefully and without flaw. If I wanted to make any progress on this book I needed to get out of here. I glanced up just to catch him looking at me, or was he looking at my book either way I folded the page of my book, grabbed my coffee, and got up to leave. I felt his eyes follow me to the door before leaving me.

That night I couldn't stop thinking of him. What was wrong with me obsessing over a man who I had just seen for a few seconds in a coffee shop? I couldn't help it though, the way his body seemed to be perfectly molded, the way he held himself with self-assured confidence, his jawline that seemed to be sharper than my kitchen knives. He was so hot. Get yourself together Vi! He could an axe murder for all you know! he'd be a really hot one too. I desperately needed to get off this train of thought. I grabbed my book from off the nightstand. Shit! I can't read a smutty romance right now! Okay, calm down. where are your textbooks, there is nothing hot about psychology.

That night I stayed up until one in the morning trying to keep my mind out of the gutter and away from the mystery man from that afternoon.

"Hey, umm Vivienne? I got you a coffee, it seemed like you were up really late last night and I thought you would need it." I got woken up by Kiara gently shaking me.

"Shit! What time is it?!" I exclaimed shooting up. Kiara was seated at the end of my bed holding a coffee out for me. I grabbed it and started walking to the bathroom.

"It's eight, why?" she asked following me and handing me one of the neatly folded towels from the bin.

" I have my first class at 8:30 and I am nowhere near ready, I have to take a shower, get dressed, pack my bag, and then walk over there! It already takes me ten minutes to walk over there and that leaves me only fifteen minutes to get ready and five for inevitable casualties!" I explained to her.

"Okay, well my first class is a ten so I don't have to be ready for a while, I'll go pack your bag and make a lunch for you. How does a turkey sandwich sound?"

"Great! thank you!" I shouted as I stepped into the shower. I have heard so many stories about people that have roommates that sucked or were mean to them, looks like I lucked out and got a new best friend.

When I stepped out of the shower I quickly blow-dried my hair and put it in a half-half-down style. I did some light makeup and went to go grab clothes, but when I opened the door I found a neat pile of my clothes folded and sitting on the floor with a note that read;

" I decided to go to the gym, your bag and lunch are on your bed. I thought this would look cute.

Kiara"

I snatched the clothes off the floor and walked back into the bathroom. She picked out a white kite polo top and navy dress pants. I quickly threw them on and went to pick out my shoes. I selected cream ballet flats that had a black toe. I grabbed my bag and keys and then quickly left the dorm. I locked the door and then ran down the stairs. I had nine minutes to get to class. I jogged halfway there before slowing to a walk.

As I kinda planned I got to class with five minutes to spare. I took out my notebook, textbook, and pen case. I arranged them neatly at my seat before taking out my book. It was a book that I picked out to be a quick read. I wanted a cute but smutty romance novel for the plane and it was just that. I didn't notice at the time but someone had sat behind me.

"How is the book going?" a low voice drawled from behind me.  I quickly closed it as if I had something to hide. what was I doing? I'm old enough to read smut, so why the heck am I acting like I'm thirteen?

"it's good" I replied putting my book back in my bag. There were now two minutes until class started and slowly more and more people filled in. I turned around to see who I was talking to.

No fucking way. this cannot be happening.

"Nathaniel." the man from the coffee shop said as he reached his hand out for me to shake. I slowly took his hand. he had a firm and strong grip.

"I- I saw you yesterday," I said like the idiot I am.

" Did you know?" he blasted the stupidest grin I have ever seen on his face. it was really hard to ignore the butterflies bursting in my stomach as I rolled my eyes, and turned around to pay attention to the professor who was now standing up.

this class was going to be hard to get through. With the hottest potential axe murder behind me, I was not getting a B in the class.

As I was walking out of the class he came up next to me,

"Hey, maybe next time we go get a drink we should plan it. Here, text me," he said handing me a piece of paper as he walked away.

" you don't even know my name!" I called out.

"well what is it?" he said turning around.

"Vivienne," I told him

"Okay, Vivienne, text me," she said and then continued to walk away.
