Season 3 chapter 9

Nobody's pov:

Professor Oobleck spoke as he sat in the commentary box. "It is now time to begin the randomization process for our next fight." Professor Port then said,"It looks like the first contender is..." the slots spinner until one of them slowed down and showed one of the contenders,"Penny Polendina from Atlas!" Professor Port announced, and he continued."And her opponent will be..." The slots started spinning until it stopped."Pyrrha Nikos from Beacon!"

As the announcement was made, both women stepped onto the battlefield platform and faced each other.
Penny had a bright smile on her face as she said with a salute "Salutations Pyrrha Nikos! It's an honor to finally meet you."

Pyrrha only had a sad frown on her face as she faced her happy opponent, then she looked down to her hands, clenching and unclenching her fists and observing them as if she was looking for something.

"This is going to be so much fun." Penny said with her hands to her hips as she faced Pyrrha.

*Meanwhile*

Ruby was facing who she believed to be her injured friend Mercury, who was now perfectly standing on both his legs, when she had thought he was seriously injured in the last round of the tournament.

As Ruby stared at him with an expression of shock and confusion, she asked, "Mercury... What are you doing? You were hurt. " Why?... What's going on?"

Mercury just stared at Ruby with a smug look, not answering any of her questions. Ruby glared and said "Fine. If you're not going to tell me...-" She tried to side step him, but he mirrored and mocked her move. As Ruby stepped back to the other side, Mercury once again mocked her step. Ruby stared at Mercury and was just about to get into her stance until she heard Professor Oobleck announce "Fighters, are you ready?"

*Back to the arena*

Penny and Pyrrha stared at each other. Penny was excited for the match to start, whereas Pyrrha looked laser focused and determined as she pulled her gaze from The audience to Penny. Oobleck announced "3... 2...1." After a moment of pause, Rhea looks down to Pyrrhas's teammates and back at the arena with worry as her palms are clasped together near her mouth, praying to Oum that nothing bad happens, she then turns her gaze to Emerald, keeping a close eye on her.

Oobleck finally announced "Begin!"
Penny brought out her swords and started levitating them, commanding a strike straight to Pyrrha who managed to block a few with her sword, strike another with her spear and managed to avoid the rest by running and did a jump twirl. The swords that flew by, redirected and went straight for Pyrrha.

*With Mercury and Ruby*

Mercury smirked and said "Showtime." He then ran straight for Ruby who tried to avoid him by quickly side stepping, but then she quickly tried to use her semblance to get past him but it ultimately ended up with her getting kicked in the stomach and she fell on the ground at a decent distance away from Mercury. She quickly pulled out her scroll, but before she could do anything, it was shot out of her hand.

Mercury smirked and said "let's just keep this between us friends." He then got into his fighter stance and ran for Ruby once again.

*Back with Pyrrha and Penny*

As Pyrrha and Penny were engaged in combat, Professor Port made a comment "My word! What a tremendous play by Ms. Polendina." Pyrrha continued to deflect Penny's attacks and slashes with her javelin and shield.

On the stands, Nora screamed "GOOOOOOO PYRRHA!" Ren clapped for her while Jaune just watched with worry. While Rhea continued to both observe Emerald and the fight. As she spared a glance at the fight, she whispered "C'mon Pyrrha. You got this." As Rhea continued to observe, she noticed Pyrrha's weapon and shield were starting to bend, but then they both quickly straightened up, as Pyrrha quickly engaged in the fight with Penny once again.
