Chapter 13 – Fair warning

Pain. That was the first thing that my brain registered.
Fear. I was scared because I had no idea what happened to me and Lucas.
Sorrow. I couldn't feel Lucas' presence around me. Where is he?
Anger. I wanted to kill the person in charge of hurting Lucas.
I could hear a constant beeping sound. Where am I? I tried moving my head to try and block out the sound but pain shot through every fiber of my body, making it almost impossible to move. The majority of the pain was coming from my left shoulder. What happened to it?
I tried moving my fingers but even that was a hard task. I could feel something sticking out of my wrist. It felt cold and sharp. Is that a needle? Okay, now I'm freaking out. What the hell happened? Where's Lucas? The constant beeping noise became louder and it beeped faster.
I could hear distant voices trying to calm me down but it was muffled. I couldn't make out a single coherent word. I felt like I was surrounded by pain and numbness. I tried to open my eyes but it was so heavy.
I suddenly feel tired. Before I knew it, I fell asleep.
Beep... Beep... Beep...
What is that sound? I tried to block out the sound but it kept beeping. It sounded like a heart monitor like the ones used in the pack infirmary. Wait! Heart monitor? What the fudge, am I in the infirmary? What happened?
Then it all came back to me. The walk with Lucas, how he told me he loved me and regretted choosing Ashley over me. Our first date at the meadow where he asked me to be his girlfriend. Then a hunter came out and shot him. Rogues suddenly came out and attacked me as they took Lucas away. Seeing Connor...
Oh God, I hope Lucas is alright. Please let him be alright. I just got him back, I can't lose him.
Beep.. Beep.. Beep..
Lucas, where are you?! Why am I here? I should find Lucas now!
Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.
The heart monitor sped up and I heard the door slam open. I heard a familiar voice trying to calm me down but I can't. Lucas was kidnapped and my twin was the one who kidnapped him. I never thought Connor could do such a thing. He always protected me.
"Lia, please you have to calm down. Lia open your eyes. Lia everything is going to be alright, please calm down." I could make out the voice clearer now, it was Trey. "T-t-tr-trey..." My throat was so dry and my voice sounded like it belonged to an eighty year old man.
"Lia! Wake up, open your eyes, please." Trey pleaded. I tried opening my eyes but it was too hard. My eyes felt like it weigh a ton. After trying for a few more minutes I managed to open my eyes and was suddenly blinded by a white light.
I closed my eyes shut, "T-to... b-bri-bright." I managed to say. I heard a shuffling sound and a click. I opened my eyes slowly, adjusting to the lighting and I saw Trey's face looking down at me with worry etched clearly on his tired face.
How long have I been out? Where did they find me? Did they find Lucas? Did they know Connor was behind this? "W-what ha-happened?" I asked. Trey let out a sigh and ran a hand down his tired face. His hair seemed lifeless and he had bags under his eyes like he didn't get enough sleep. His clothes looked wrinkled and from his stiff posture I know he has been sleeping in the uncomfortable white chair he was sitting on.
