Everything started on a usual Monday morning when our dear girl was waking up. Eva’s eyes fluttered open while the soft morning light filtered through the curtains. She lay still for a moment, contemplating the day ahead. The warmth of her bed was inviting her to stay there, but duty called, in the form of school and responsibilities waiting beyond her bedroom door.
Her body felt uncommonly heavy. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she reflected on her decision. Laziness was like a siren's call tempting her to submit to it. The school could wait, couldn’t it? What harm would one missing day do? Maybe more than she could imagine.
Despite the temptation, a sense of guilt irrupted into her thoughts. Skipping school would disappoint her parents, and she definitively didn’t want to lead with the consequences.
With a conflicted heart, Eva finally made her choice. She swung her legs over the side of the bed, putting her feet firmly on the floor. The decision was made, and she would face the day ahead, unknowing that this seemingly simple decision would be just the beginning.
